Thanks for the game @Elusia and @Lambu! That was fun.

Being in Mafia for the first time, as non-traitor that is, then almost immediately being alone was pretty funny. @goodboy_lawlett and @GrySun I know you've got some salt about that with @James Rye's slip up but you need to relax a bit. I look at the mafia game as pretty much just a fancier version of board game. Would you let monopoly get you? Me either. :amuse

Well played @gnut! @Copy Panda looking at the night actions I can't help but feel bad for you. SS is such a fun role but you never had a chance. Sherlock Gnut had you nailed down since you walked in the door.

@Seraph it's cool man. Would I have rather you had tried to help me out a little more? Yeah. But if you thought I was a lost cause I get not wanting to jump into that.

@Farfalla.:kappa

My problem with her is she saw a fuck and did absolutely nothing to prevent this from happening, why didn’t she pm every member privately right away explaining the player role. When I logged in I also thought I was lili. Every1 is blaming James but I can’t completely agree, it’s hosts job to make it pretty clear and no it’s not similar to claymore because not knowing your role was part of the mechanic. I hate how she sits there and just let this fiasco to occur.

I don’t particularly blame lambu because I e can all make mistakes but I truly hated how he was “ yeah whoops guys but HEY ITS JAMES FAULT THO” and wow lawl you quitt why tho?

Also why was there no reset after James put on grys avatar? He cares about everyone’s time but clearly does not apparently about the people being involved in this
1- Elu was at a party at that moment and I was thirty minutes away of leaving for work and without internet, we both were in a dire situation to check things. I honestly didn't notice I missed the name over the roles till I got back at Night, the same case with Elu. So the mistake was trying to adjust to schedule, not Elu doing nothing as you claim.

2- I already admitted my part at fault, but this problem isn't a matter of who's guilty but why it happened: for both of us own carelessness.
I was mad at you for quitting, not because your exit meant the end of the Mafia but because you left your teammate alone. It wasn't fair for Jammin that still wanted to play. So even if you had reasons to quit, I didn't see it proper, thats all.

3- Didn't reset because it was already too late and precisely because I care about people's schedules. Everyone signed up for a game in between the set period of time.
You are ignoring the detail that I was as disappointed as all of you when I saw the fiasco, which by the way is not as different to the Claymore situation as you say: Both were a lack of detailed information in the PM for the players, something that could have been easily solved with just questioning the issue. Would you have reset the game if gnut and Holt asked for it? I dont think so.

So to summarize, I understand you are salty and disappointed, but I cannot understand why you can't move on when this thing has happened many many times before to other players and they did just fine. You dont need to keep yourself burning for something like this and Elusia doesn't deserve at all the flaming you are giving her.

I agree with that train of thinking, but the point is said guideline already exists. Link

So my sin is extra big for that reason :emobirb
Lmao, I didn't realize @GrySun made that addition. Good on him for that. That makes his point of view a lot more understandable. Still, I'd say now is the time just for the social reinforcement of utilizing that.

So, I suppose now is the time for that social accountability part lol. This should be kept in mind by future hosts, you and Elusia included.

People make mistakes and people will lose trust in you, but I don't think either one of you are stupid or weak. Improvement is a part as life and I'm looking forward to seeing you and Elusias improvements next time you two host.:super

Before I address the whole issue, the color mechanic and all that, I just want to say that I really don’t like the game in general. I’ve expressed a lot of negative emotions in the deadpad and how it felt like a wasted potential overall. I didn’t want to end it all there, as I felt that it’s already late, but I’ve endured it till the end for the remaining players. Now, I don’t hate it as much as before, and it did have some memorable moments, like that OP prostitute, but I still feel that it could have been one of the best games out there and it just all went downhill.

I like to apologize to the Mafia team for the PM mistake. I know that Lambu says that it is his fault for doing it, but I’d say that it’s mine as well. I am a main host and doing a mistake like that isn’t minor. I hated myself at that time for not doing anything when I had the chance. It isn’t my only host mistake either. Several times, I forgot that someone made a vote or they did something wrong like not voting once or not posting three times. Having something like that, I’m not surprised that people will start losing their trust on me and I’m deeply sorry for what happened.

I’m not angry at Lawl for being mad at me. I was more pissed at James at that time, and while it was disappointing, his actions are completely justified. So Lawl, if you really hate what I did, then I understand. I will try my absolute best to improve my hosting skills to not make the same mistake again. I’ll also say that I’ll be hosting this December and definitely next year, so you can skip my games if you want. I won’t force you.

There’s also a scuffle with Mr. Traitor, aka Seraph, but I won’t delve too much other than I’m not entirely surprised it happened. Big yikes...

Now to the color mechanic, like Lambu said, it’s an inspiration from the MU. The original idea from that site is that the player’s role is hidden, but not their allegiance, lynch or not. I tweaked it out with a friend of mine and became the basic concept of the color system, inspired from the crossover themes (our MCs have unique red hair color). After that’s done, I sent the idea to Lambu and started to work on it. It took us several weeks, but it was finally done! Then, we worked on other things. While I’m not happy with the game, I did like this mechanic and would like to use it again in the future, albeit differently so you guys wouldn’t see a pattern. Also, I learned that Investigators are more OP than Dets in this system, so I already know the first step to making it better XP

And speaking of the game, I’m happy that most of you guys enjoyed it despite its many mistakes and I hope you guys keep having fun in the next. It’ll be certainly interesting!
:confetti

Well, where to start... definitely this isn't how Elu and I planned the game to happen :XD

First of all, I've got to apologize to the Mafia team. Sure that I was in a rush and in bad conditions to keep up with details but I should have specified the names over the roles like in the Example PMs (Yes Gry, I do look at them) :lambirb tho I've also voiced my opinion that what ultimately happened wasn't for that lack of info in the PM but for James choice in that situation (kind of like what happened with Greg and Holt last game). I wont delve any deeper about it because I think James already laments this as much as I do so lets leave it at that: We were both careless in our own duties as player and host.

This resulted in a mass destruction of the "Mighty Pillar" that was the Purples. They were weak in numbers but I gave them the strongest possible roles for this kind of set-up + 2 recruitable players to massively increase their win ratio in the endgame. Nothing of that mattered after the Mafia imploded so Panda was practically alone from D2 onwards, too difficult for him as a Third Party which resulted in a crushing victory for the Townie side.

The Colour System was an idea that Elu got from MU, that of hiding roles in a way that those aren't a relevant topic towards lynches anymore. I loved that concept and was quite eager to see the result of people theorizing and suspecting based in playstyle instead of Game Design like its happened a lot lately.

At first the System was supposed to be based on "usefulness" of the roles: So the strongest colours represent things like Detective, Janitor, Vigilante... but after discussing it with Elu we arrived at the conclusion it was highly subjective and we needed a more ordered approach.
Thats how we came to clasify the roles based on their Type in the Role List:

Red: Investigative roles
Yellow: Protection roles
Orange: Blocking roles
Grey: Voting-related roles
Brown: Killing roles
Blue: Cult - Recruitable roles
Purple: Mafia
Green: Third Party

The Light or Dark shade of each colour would be used to specify the nature of the role in question. As some of you correctly guessed during the game, Light Red indicated "Investigation of the Dead" while Dark Red that of the living. Light Orange was for a specific kind of block on Bombs while Dark orange was used for a full-fledged blocker. Dark Green would be used for the TP in question while the Light Version would be used on Illusions, and so so on...

Of course, that would still leave the players at an uncertainty regarding some cases so thats why we decided on including Two Investigators that wouldn't lose their roles to Recruitment.
That way they would even have ways to communicate their findings on the system with their Mason buddies and coordinate some traps for the scum... but of course that also meant giving the Mafia a chance at stealing that precious information with a dangerous Mole: The Sleeper (SuperMason), which would essentially know he was Sleeper thanks to that secondary role and play according to the possibility of being recruited by the Mafia. It was a potential "Mafia Mason" that would have been incredibly dangerous late game if Townies didn't get cooperative.

Then again, the Mafia was compact but strong. They were given a Escort to neutralize the TP-Spy-Docs ; a Janitor that could hide the colours upon killing and learn the role of the victim, a M.Doctor to protect the previous two teammates of the Shapeshifter's attacks and a Bomb that could move stealthily while having a good reason to do so + explode the soul that dared to attack/lynch him.

They and the ShapeShifter were given a nice way around thanks to the lack of Detectives, so Town would have to target correctly and deduce the identity of the killers instead of waiting for some reveal in D4 or D5. In numbers "Town" looked stronger, but "Scum" had the Strategic positioning so, even if in the end the expected struggle between both forces ended up broken over such a silly situation, I was quite satisfied with the design.

The game was pretty straightforward and fast, but I've got to give props to @gnut for being Town's MVP and @Copy Panda for doing his very best despite his low options (4 pages of questions and theories in the PM endorse it).

Finally, wanted to specially thank @Elusia for the dedication and time spent behind the whole game. As always, Im looking forward to the next time I can host with you. :hug

Thank you everyone for playing, see you in the next game! :gent
Next time, we should do a theme that both of us know. Or... maybe take vengeance on me by suggesting a theme that I don't know about :XD

@Elusia can you just host at MU? Everyone is thinking that
I would love to do that, but I still need lots of improvements. Thanks for the suggestion, though o/

But I enjoyed myself. So really I win either way.

And, hey, I managed to take out 2 investigators (I'm taking partial credit for @Demonspeed since I told James to do it.) and a Doc on the way out. You were killed by your own saltiness before you did anything. Just think if you'd have not rage quit we'd have gotten all three because my next target was probably going to be @Asako.

Something along those lines :e3
That, and I'm not a big fangirl anymore... as hard as that sound. I've only fully spectated DD's game there this year.

Wait how come even the host is shading Sera now LOL

That‘s a very bad comparison. Monopoly you can play more often or start again if there‘s a mess. For MGs you can‘t know if you‘ll ever again be the role you were in the ruined game even if you play 100 games. Or play in the same group of people. Or hell even when you‘ll have time to play another one. It‘s a limited and occasional amount of fun. It‘s okay telling people to relax, but trying to trivialize someone being upset by comparing it to random other games you can pull out and play anytime is a very stupid way to have your message come across, if that was even your intention to begin with. :oh

Hey I dont hate anyone here, thats a very intense emotion :XD

I only wish he didnt drop his options and went straight for Jammin, he should have tried fighting for his allegiance. But Im not actually mad at him either, he was pretty fcked to be honest.

And you're fooling yourself if you think it doesn't  Especially if it degenerates into flaming the hosts, directly or indirectly revealing small but still relevant details about the setup, or what I can only describe as host turf wars about the next ones. But I guess a courtesy wait of a couple days is too much to ask for?

Public rule discussion already gets kept for the periods in between games from what I've seen, since that's just common sense.
For this talk to go anywhere you‘ll need to specify what exactly bothers you. New posts appearing at all in the discussion thread, or what kind of posts appear there, or how many? Neither seems like they should distract anyone playing unless they themselves have nothing else to do but go into non-game threads. If you‘re for fully banning discussion thread talk that‘s kinda extreme. And we were talking between people who were dead already.

Starting to be a late answer, but what I mean is, do we really need to tell hosts that they need to assign the correct avy to the correct player? Goes without saying if you ask me, just like Faffs said about players making sure on their end. Don't know how frequent the issue is either, whether we've avoided disaster by sheer chance so far or it was an isolated oversight - meaning the hosts knew what to do and thought the PM was fine, or forgot, or messed up for whatever reason (or I didn't before Lambu posted) - but as Lambu mentioned the Example PMs are already there (basically what you suggested, @SonOfDaws?) (beaten at it again :arf ), don't know what more could be done other than writing a foolproof step-by-step guide covering every single possible thing...
Usually we don‘t, but the last few games are more and more having difficulties with the very basics. We already have pretty fool proof guides, so you either get it enforced by telling hosts all the time to check it(at least use it as a comparison whether you have it all) or you leave it to them, and if they screw up as they did the last 2 games they totally deserve any bit of salt and flak they receive for it. No bs about „it‘s just on the players“.

But maybe that‘s just me and you enjoyed the last 2 games and would have them be the new standard :grumble I‘ll call it MG Autoplay.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

But yes this horse has been beaten thoroughly, if people are aware to be more careful from now on, both when hosting and playing, then that‘s all I ask for.

It's to illustrate a very simple point. Getting salty over a game your playing for fun is silly, IMO. What do you get if you win? Nothing. What do you get if you lose? Nothing.

I understand for more competitive people part of how they enjoy this kind of thing is getting really invested but, never forget, it's just a game. Your playing it to have fun. If your not, then why bother?

He totally did though. It‘s like if you got recruited by Mentor lategame and then are like „I got recruited kill this guy“ instead of switching to playing third party as the role wants. Throwing.

I guess it‘s not something you can understand if you‘re not of competitive mindset or if you don‘t like the game enough. The more you enjoy something the more mad you get when it gets ruined for you, added to that the other factors I told you and it‘s making it worse. I do at least understand how you feel but that‘s far from applicable to everyone.

I died so early and visited the Dead Pad only twice after. I have no idea what happened in this game :sweatdrop. I don't get why there is so much salt.
