The Promised Neverland Chapter 142 Review by Elusia

Overview:

The chapter continues with the flashback as a knight from the battlefield comes into the hideout to tell the people inside about the terrible news regarding the ongoing battle and Commander Ratri’s status. The people want to rush out to get him and see the rest of the army, but Julius stops them at the entrance. They celebrate his sudden return, but then he wants to talk to them again about the proposal.

Julius explains that the offering of humans as a food source is needed; it ensures that the demons will never hurt them again and gives them better results than losing more and more people through war. He exclaims that he had enough of the constant fighting, having a flashback from a battlefield where he sees a lot of people in a pool of blood, and says that if they can make the offering, it’ll end conflict for good. One person argues back, but Julius retaliates by saying that, for the sake of mankind, they have to end the war. It’s not a decision he wants to make, but it’s the price for saving the humans. He begs them to accept the proposal, but they still refuse, telling him about the humans who would be taken by the demons. Not only will suffer from the single offer; since their children would be used as food this would increase their misery infinitely. The group goes silent for a few seconds before talks resume about what they have been going through themselves and that they’ll fight all the way. Julius interrupts them, proclaiming that he has heard enough, and screaming out that they are all wrong. But another person stops him and tells him that even Julius himself doesn’t truly want to do it since he’s the kindest one and feels even more responsible than most of the other leaders. He continues on stating that Julius wanted peace for all mankind through no compromises and expresses to him to take a break and rest. Julius keeps on insisting that they are wrong and before he talks to them again, he stops with a tired look on his face. He suddenly turns on them when the demons start attacking the knights, revealing that he became a traitor, already having made a deal with the Demon King, and despite disliking the idea, he announces that his friends will be the first cattle humans. Leaving the room with his friends captured, he monologues that his decision is the only answer and that his choice will save the human race and their world.

At the Seven Walls meeting, the demon lord accepts Julius’ wish, but he also demands something in return, keeping in mind the other meeting Julius had with Ivelk, a High Demon King. The Demon Lord grants his wish and tells Ivelk the first of his requests: the best meat the demons will grow throughout the ages. In his human farms, he wants meat better than the meat the kings are served. Ivelk accepts it. The Demon Lord then tells Julius that he will become the gatekeeper, keeping peace between the two worlds. He continues on with affirming that Julius’ overall role will be inherited by his family as well and mocks him that he can’t run away from his new responsibilities as he will be the foundation of the new peace treaty between the two races, forever binding him to his actions he took when betraying his friends.

Back in the present, the Demon Lord asks Emma about her wish and in return, reminds her of his reward. Emma thinks about the Demon Lord and what he is currently thinking and what he wants, but he only said that he wants the most important thing in life from the person making the wish. He asks her again whether she wants to go through with the wish despite those conditions, but then Emma boldly wishes that all cattle children shall be sent to the human world and that the two worlds will be closed off afterwards.

Thoughts:

This chapter wraps up the two-part flashback chapter leading up to the new promise. It was satisfying to see what lead to them sacrificing some humans to the demons, but also tragic to see, from Julius’ perspective, that the offering was the only path to freedom of all mankind and he paid the consequences, both by having his friends forced to become the first human cattle and by him having to suffer for his decision by being forced to oversee the promise. Julius made a huge mistake, but I did see where he was coming from.

Back to Emma, she was hesitating for a little while before doing what she thinks is right and just like Julius will end up suffering due to the inevitable consequence. Since Emma’s whole ambition is about her family, the price would be highly related to them. Maybe her family will be the last cattle food or all of them including her will be stuck in the demon world forever. Either way, it will definitely be horrifying.

Overall, I find this chapter to be great and look forward for more. I rate it a solid 8/10.

Yakusoku no Neverland/The Promised Neverland - Chapter 143 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: Obliteration

This Week's Chapter of Neverland begins with Emma repeating her Wish to the Supreme Leader of the Demons, she wants every Cattle Child to be sent to the Human World as well as the gateway between the Worlds to be closed for good afterwards. The Leader announces that he will grant her Wish,he however will have his compensation too: "What i want is your-" his desire is cut off for a moment and we're unable to see what he asked of Emma with her only response to it being: "Oh..." with a surprised expression on her face. Suddenly the scene switches back to Don and Gilda looking for Musica and Song Juu,it's been several days since their conversation with Ayshe and her having spoken human language,it is also revealed that they told Hayato about the footprints of Musica's horse they found before meaning they're closeby. Don and Gilda are full of energy and enthusiasm as they'll get to see their friends soon, and that a lot earlier than expected by them, they didn't tell Hayato the truth about Ayshe because they respected her desire to remain distant towards Norman and his Allies until she can get back at them. The days continued with them finding and checking on clues and tracks together, which isn't easy as their friends are experts at covering their tracks, suddenly one of Ayshe's dogs discovered a lingering smell and more footprints implying that they are not too far away now from them. Don reveals that this time they have found Musica's footprints, a new track which they'll follow from here on.

As Don and Gilda celebrate this new finding, unbeknownst to them,Hayato stands behind them with a scary expression on his face the reason for this is immediatly revealed to us as he has a flashback to before the begin of his mission when he and Hayato were called into Vincent's office. Hayato was given a certain device, very small and compact in order to contact Jin's group once they found Musica, since he can't make anything suspicious or alarming like a smoke signal so they won't run away from them. It's a Transmitter,if Hayato presses the button on top just once it transmits a signal to Jin and he immediatly knows their location,if they approach Musica and Song Juu then he is supposed to press the button in quick succession to give a clear route to their target. Which back in the present he actually commits to, he keeps pressing the button while following Don and Gilda hoping their attack will be over as soon as possible. Once Jin's Squad sights Musica and Song Juu they will surround them and immediatly kill them with the "Power of Lambda" also known as the Adam look-alikes,Hayato has absolute faith into Norman's plan and silently swears to himself that Ayshe, her dogs,Don and Gilda will not be harmed and that this is for their sakes as well. Norman needs Musica dead at all costs! A bit ahead of our friends we see Musica giving her horse some Water to drink,as the horse drinks she asks wether Song Juu wants to rest as well which he refuses as he is up and well.

In the middle of his sentence the Demon notices something behind a tree,a sign of life so to say,he tells them to show theirselves only to be met by Don and Gilda happily running towards them for a touching embrace. Musica recognizes her Don and Gilda and tells them how much she missed her friends, even Song Juu takes off his Mask and smiles so it really feels like a moving reunion as Musica realizes how much they've grown and the time that's passed since they last met. Ayshe and Hayato look on as they reunite with the latter remembering that Jin asked him to press the button 3 times once he see's them, which he does immediatly. As he presses the button Ayshe notices quick, multiple footsteps approaching them and as she does she screams to Musica and Song Juu in demonic Language. Probably a Warning. They're all immediatly surrounded by Jin and his Squad from above in the tree tops, Ayshe is threatened by Hayato with a Knife while Jin apologizes to Don and Gilda for what he is about to do but there is no choice: Musica has to die here and now. Suddenly Sung Joo appears right behind Jin,similar to Archduke Lewis and Emma in Goldy Pond before their fight was about to begin. Everybody ends up shocked at this, with Song juu holding his spear next to Jin's throat mocking his declaration from before by asking who exactly he thinks will get eliminated here.

Personal Thought's
This Chapter was loaded with Hype, 9/10, very solid developments and insane cliffhangers on both ends: Emma and the Supreme Leader,Song Juu vs Jin's Squad. I'm really curious what the compensation for Emma's Wish will be,because from her initial reaction in this chapter it felt like she would not have to give her Life or her friends up so it's still anyone's guess at this point. Over at Don and Gilda's side it's hard to say what comes next,Song Juu could wipe the floor with Jin and his Squad if he wanted to because that's some mad speed he's been showing here. If he's anything like Lewis in battle too, then they're in for a rude awakening. Norman underestimated Song Juu and Musica, and now he's paying the price for it most likely. Their shocked expressions and fear prove that they weren't ready for this, and if they can't keep up then the Lambda Clones cannot do anything about this situation either. I'm looking forward to this for sure! Till next time everybody!

The Promised Neverland Chapter 144 Review by Elusia

Overview:

The chapter begins with a flashback to Sonju and Musica noticing a presence approaching them. After a short exchange, they plan on luring them out and if their followers are pursuers, they would strike back, as it happened in the previous chapter. Hayato immediately notices Sonju standing behind Jin, but Ayshe pins him down while the tall demon attacks the Adams clones at ease, though Musica reassures him that he won’t kill them. Sonju asks Jin once more to leave before Jin shouts to just kill them all, no matter the cost. Ayshe shouts out to Sonju about the incoming attack and he dodges, saying that anyone who dares lay a finger on Musica would meet their demise. Before a proper fight can break out the Adams clones suddenly stop moving and start falling to the ground, no longer being able to breathe due to spasms and starting to die slowly. Musica orders the kids to get her her medicines and help them get better, but Sonju doesn’t agree to it. But since the current medicine of Muisca is not enough to help them, Jin has no choice but to surrender and give them their own medicine at the cost of being taken prisoner.

After sucessfully healing and tying them up, the rest of the kids inform the two about the recent events. Thinking about all the events since reuniting with Norman, Gilda realizes the truth about him: He intended to kill them from the start and he had a lot of plans to do so were he to fail on his first attempt. All the things he said back then were lies as he would never stray from his own goal, even so far as to not wait for Emma to reach her own approach to save all the kids. She starts crying as she deeply apologizes for the deeds of her sibling and desperately begs them to help them regardless, not only them, but all of the cattle children, including Norman.

Meanwhile at the shelter, Ray is walking around with Emma, getting her completely informed of the situation they are currently in. He asks Emma about the promise and she gleefully announces to both him and the others that it was a success and that they will all be able to leave towards the human world. Everyone celebrates the good news, though Ray asks her about the demon lord’s price. She dodges the question, leaving him fazed, but he is willing to let it slide for now. The kids are now preparing to leave and go towards the capital themselves after hearing that Norman plans to eradicate all of the demons inside the capital city and at the same time, back at the forest, Musica agrees to also leaving for the capital as she doesn’t want the war to start again. Sonju agrees and all of them are heading towards the demon capital.

Thoughts:

This chapter is a massive build-up to the big finale of all of them going to the capital. It starts off with portraying what I like Sonju and Musica and them being really cool in this chapter. Then Gilda getting a much needed perspective change and Emma returning home after accepting her deal with the demon. It’s in character for her to not say the actual price of them all going to the human world, as she probably realizes that it would really hurt them. As I speculated before, the price would be about her family, one way or another, though now it is very unlikely that the price will be them stuck in the demon world forever.

In the end, the chapter is great and I look forward to see the big conflict unfolds. I rate it a solid 8/10.

The Promised Neverland Chapter 145 Review by Emperor Spriggan

This chapter was a bit transitionary, nothing exactly big happened except towards the end. Probably why the title 'Many Threads' is kind of fitting.

It begins where last chapter picked off, with both Ray and Emma heading to the Royal Capital to stop Norman. The two decide to stop Norman before he kills the nobles, since once they were dead there would be no one to negotiate with. Emma asks Ray how long it takes to get to the capital, and Ray says 5 days. 3, if they rushed without taking any detours or short cuts.

Anna says that there are only 2 and a half days left till the Tifari, so regardless they are short on time. Emma and Ray also needed time to rest as well. At this point Oliver and the Goldy Pond kids show up with horses, beckoning the Grace Field kids to get on them. On the way to the Capital, Oliver explains that while Ray and Emma were at the Seven Walls, they taught themselves how to ride horses.

Emma asks Gilian if she is okay with the idea of stopping the war, considering how much she hated the demons. Gilian says that she still feels the same way, but she wants to save Norman, and help Emma (This scene was a little blehhhh, not really a fan of the Emma nakama stuff). Perspective shifts to Norman, who is with his lackies.

Norman receives information that the demons are heading to the bait place, and will be there by the morning of the Tifari. Vincent is asked about a trump card (I'm assuming its that demon converting device we saw in practice a while back), and he says it will be ready. Everything seems to be going perfectly, but the kids are cautiously optimistic. Which is a nice change, would be incredibly cheesy if we just saw them being confident and cocky. It's obvious most of them (Probably all of them) will die, leaving Norman by himself, but its still nice seeing they aren't being overconfident.

The kids of Grace Field back at Norman's base remark about how Norman seemed to be in a hurry to leave. Norman tells the Lambda children to take their medicines, plus to get a good rest. The Lambda children say they don't have a lot of time left (Quite a dark turn), but regardless, they were still grateful to Norman. Before they died, they could at least do some good in the world.

As their leader, Norman tells them no one is dying on his account (Again, more death flags for his crew). They can save their gratitude for when they win the war. Quite a good exchange, it highlights Norman's incredible leadership skills. Plus charisma. After a resounding battle cry, he distances himself from the rest of his crew. Looking towards the sky, he thinks back to Emma and Ray, and how they wanted to live with them. Coughing out blood (The Itachi syndrome, where a character is ill with an unspecified illness), he apologizes. This was the big event I was referring to in the first part of my review. We basically learn Norman is dying/short of time, something that no one else seems to be aware of. Not even his Lambda assistants. That would probably mean that he wouldn't make it till the end of the story, but I have this sneaking feeling the story will end with the original trio all reunited. So in a way, that kinda removes the tension from this scene.

The Tifari kicks off, and there's an explosion in the building where the demons are gathered together. Quite a good cliffhanger, I'd say.

My overall thoughts on the chapter are that while transitionary, it was actually pretty entertaining. In regards to the Norman stuff, at this point its painfully obvious everyone of the Lambda kids will die in the war, leaving Norman by himself. Which will be tragic, but it will be interesting to see what the plan will be if that happens.

Chapter rating:7.5/10.

Yakusoku no Neverland/The Promised Neverland - Chapter 146 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: Battle at the Royal Capital

This Week's Chapter of Neverland starts with a Color Page celebrating the Manga's 3rd year of publication! It shows almost all relevant characters, past or present, surrounding a birthday Cake with some others like Ray carrying in even more food. But there is another Special Occasion to be celebrated by our heros, Emma's Birthday on the 22th of August is coming up as well so they're throwing a big party. Here is the Color Page:

It's the 10th of November 2047,the fated day, The day of the Tifari Ceremony. The Queen alongside the Nobles approach a ceremonial altar intended to serve their offerings and sacrifices to the Supreme being among the Demons: Several kinds of Fruit and 3 Premium Grade Meat Jar's. The method to send the Supreme Leader their offerings is the same as Emma and Ray used to reach the Seven Walls before, as their ritual seemingly begins and we see Demon Children and Adults celebrate their great leaders name a sudden explosion occurs at one of the Capital's gates shocking the Nobles. The Explosion has been triggered by Norman and his Allies, but this wouldn't be everything as several more explosions set off targetting the Bridges leading into and towards the Royal Capital cutting the City off from the outside completely. As the Citizens fall into panic and fear the Guards and Royal Knights realize that someone must be trying to attack them and need to take action quickly but as they turn around they're met by Barbara who immediatly attacks and kills them on the spot in a matter of moments. Soon after she is contacted by Cicero who claims that he and his Squad have successfully taken down all the Look outs on the West Side of the Capital while Barbara reports that she took down several guards on her East Side with Vincent reporting that he and his Squad have breached their Security Lines. As he concludes his report he opens the front gate for Gillan and his followers, who immediatly begin to attack the Royal Knights.

As all of their allies have entered the Capital and their surprise attack has been a success Vincent continues to lock all the Gates leading into the Capital to prevent reinforcements of the Demons getting into their way, the Capital usually houses a strong force of 5000 Demons but due to Normans schemes and tricks they divided their forces to search the culprit/s behind this crime out. Leaving the Capital with 1000 Soldiers currently, out of which 700 are outside taking care of Citizens falling in panic and trying to maintain order while the remaining 300 are inside the Castle facing off with Gillan's Squad of 50. Which comes in handy as their own forces won't have to deal with that as well, Gillan's half deterioritated Demons are holding up rather well to my surprise as they take down several Royal Guards instantly here. As they start fighting we see Vincent telling Cicero and Barbara to retreat and leave everything to the Gillan Squad as they don't need to risk their lives anymore at this point, meanwhile Norman and Zazie come face to face with Gillan who is impressed by his partners performance who only wishes him an enjoyable vengeance. Inside the Ritual Chamber we see the Nobles panic as they don't know what's happening and none of their servants have been reporting anything so far either, they send one of their retainers out to check on the situation but just as he opens the door and wants to report that there are bandits coming he is stabbed into the head with a Knife.

Some of the Nobles wonder if these bandits are the same that destroyed their farms before and are currently being hunted down but Ivelk denies their suspicion immediatly as he recognizes the large Demon entering their Chamber while greeting them all, to be none other than Gillan. Lord Bayon seemingly recognizes him as well while Lord Pupo takes matters into his hands as he sends his parents into safety as they'll deal with Gillan but to his shock instead of retreating his Mother stabs him straight into his mask's centre killing him instantly only to cut his head off entirely afterwards. As the Nobles attempt to strike back and question this action of Lady Pupo they're met by Gillan telling them that they should be able to recognize their own family, he claims that it was very easy to mimic the honorable Lord and Lady Pupo as well as some other Nobles as they have eaten plenty of their kind over the years as well as having stolen their masks containing their smell and voice. He praises the Nobles for having matured and grown into splendid warriors but their retainers should not and can't be trusted as they are all part of his House only waiting for a chance to strike, he picks up Pupo's head to eat it and as he starts eating his flesh and mask we see how his body begins to change into it's original Human like state. Gillan claims that they forgot nothing, not their grief, not their hatred nor the humiliation they felt when thrown into the Wild about 700 years ago by them.

As Gillan threatens the Lives of the other Nobles next he is only met by the Queen's cold expression claiming that their efforts are laughable at best...

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter a 8.5 out of 10.

Things had been moving pretty quickly this Chapter but it's understandable given the importance of this story point in Neverland i'd say. The surprise attack went all according to plan and even Gillan's Squad did their work splendidly this far which was surprising to me but i guess the beast like Demons are superior to the wealthy demons remaining with human stature.Norman and his allies are as calm and relaxed as can be,as usual, everything went according to plan and he is very close to executing the Nobles or well...Gillan is but he seems to be at his end already if i can take the Queen's last remark as an indicator of her or the nobles in general still having some cards to play. Which would make sense, though it may appear unlikely to demons at large the nobles were aware of a threat and tried to monitor it. They need/needed some sort of an emergency plan in case the worst happens. I wonder when and where we'll see Emma and Musica arrive at the scene, they should be there as well by now and their goal is to stop Norman before the nobles die at his hands. Whatever is going to happen here i only know that we're about to learn what exactly happened to Musica and Gillan to getting banished into solitude, anger and regrets. I'd be interested in that, especially since it would mean that we'd be able to meet and see Lewis again and perhaps discover his relationship with Musica...Till next time Everybody!

The Promised Neverland Chapter 147 Review by Elusia

Overview:

The chapter continues on from the last chapter where Gillan and his army infiltrated the demon castle in the capital. Snippets of images are shown as the demon below him shouts wickedly at him. Then, the flashbacks start going back seven-hundred years ago, beginning with a demon meeting. The former family head, Gillan, talks about their current situation in how low quality human meat production has been slow over the years and if they did nothing about it, it would be bad for the public. He suggests opening up the royal treasury as well as the nobles providing meat for the masses. Despite of all the family heads rejecting the idea, he stands by in his opinion as he recounts how their fellow kind transformed back into wild demons and started eating their own families, claiming that the issue is spread throughout the country and that the total damage is yet to be seen. The demon society, according to him, is close to crumbling, so they should take extreme measures to counter it for the demon’s own sake. The atmosphere turns quiet until a demon family head named Ivelk says that his point is clear, but the complaints aren’t justifying the suggestions. He points out that since the war ended only recently, production of human meat increased slower than the general population size and that the farm management is the reason. Fortunate to them, they are already working with the Ratri clan and planning to run multiple experiments on the meat to solve those issues. They’ll have to wait for the results before they can decide. After that, the meeting ends.

Next we see Gillan being upset, contemplating that the demon families were unable to see the crisis as it is and only truly care about their very own well-being. The demon with him, Dozza, meanwhile talks about the family head’s nobility and how Giran is on another level compared to the other families, sharing his personal meat with his citizens. Gillan is clearly distressed about the situation, but Dozza reassures him that his efforts will ultimately save them and his actions will be recognized. However, this is immediately interrupted my the next scene where Gillian gets accused of high treason, having been set up by Dozza. He calls on Ivelk for help, but Ivelk knows the situation fully and keeps him as a criminal anyways. He tells the wrongfully blamed demon that his ideals are a detriment to the other nobles and was set up as a scapegoat, explaining to Gillian the true state of moral depravity of the Royal Court. As Ivelk leaves him by himself, Gillan is overtaken by his negative emotions.

Going back to the current events, he charges the noble demons, reminiscing his family, retainers and other demons who he cared so much about and who died, some of them after regressing to their primal forms, and his grief is fueling his resolve. He kills them all in one sweep and eats their corpses without mercy. As Dozza dashes in, expecting to win easily after having strengthened himself over centuries, Gillan kills him easily as well. Amidst of it all, Cicero and Barbara are hiding above, informing Norman about the recent events, which makes him tell them to move in.

Thoughts:

This chapter solidifies Gillan as a fleshed out character, from his tragic backstory to going to the capital with pure vengeance. He’s also another example of a demon who has different ideals than most of their kind. I feel like the plan is going way too smooth for my liking so far, but I still want to know where it goes from here, especially between him and the Queen. She might not be as fragile or weak as the other demon families. We also get to see a sneak peek into another Norman’s plan, which is cool.

The overall chapter is pretty good and I look forward to see the demon fight between Gillan and the Queen. I rate it a solid 7/10.

The Promised Neverland Chapter 148 Review By Emperor Spriggan

Another chapter, where we get more focus on the civil war between the demons. Truthfully I'm struggling to remember the names of all the others minus the Queen. Giran is an interesting character though, credit to him. Loved how he was turned into a pariah in the last chapter.

One of the lower ranking nobles tells the Queen to stand back, while Norman and his group watch from above. Andrew is thrilled, everything has gone all according to Norman's calculations. (One more W for the Norman camp in this arc, to add to all the ones we had already accumulated;P) Norman instructs the others to move in, but refrain from attacking. The plan is to eliminate the last one standing. Be it Giran or the Queen.

We then switch to a flashback of something that had happened earlier. With Emma and the other kids. Realizing that the festival has already started, Emma thinks that they have to stop Norman. Even though he is already at the heart of the capital. At the time is when the explosion earlier rocks the city, startling Emma. Before Ray and Emma can move in, someone calls them from the back.

The duo turn back, to meet Don and Gilda looking at them. Hayato and Aishe are with the two, plus of course, the best female in the series. Along with her sidekick. Ray is elated to see Musica and Sung Ju there, but Emma seems to be in visible distress. She and Musica share an emotional hug (Panel of the chapter easily). Though it makes me wonder about that theory I've seen floating around for the past few weeks now. About Musica being an alternate version of Emma. Future her, demon her, past her yada yada.

Emma tells Musica everything about what Norman has planned, and Musica reassures her that everything will be okay. She also thanks Emma after seeing how far the human girl is willing to go for her sake. Don asks about the promise, to which Emma reassures him that she already remade it. The group are elated, but Emma says the promise will take some time to kick in. Sung Ju seems troubled about this (Again, another interesting detail, especially if you consider his former goal to hunt down wild game again). Finally, the sidekick has an interesting plotline again, hah.

Again, we have another flashback. This time, we skip back to two days before. The Goldy Pond kids are in the forest, doing surveillance on the area around the Capitol. Just then, they realize that there are demons who are actively on the look out for Norman's base of operations. How did they know about it though? Would love to see this being explored. Ray tells the other Goldy Pond kids to head back to the hideout in order to protect it from the incoming onslaught. Hesitant at first, they finally see the logic in the plan and decide to retreat.

Switching back to the current day, we see Ray show Norman and Gilda a note. It contains the recipe for the poison Norman was developing before he set out for the capital. How he got it, Idek. It seems like an unnecessary slip up. Though I wonder if they will explore the solution of an antidote here. Maybe Musica's blood?

Sung Juu gives Emma a communicator, telling her to go on ahead. In the event of any trouble she should call him and he'd show up at once. Musica and her sidekick would take care of the unrest within the city. Gilda tells Emma something, that we hear nothing of. The chapter caps of with both Emma and Ray headed to the heart of the Capitol.

Now, as for my personal opinion. This was a pretty interesting chapter.
Pros:
-Norman being Norman, continuing to prove why is the best character in the series x) The plan for assassinating Musica might have failed, but it was a relief to see his calculations regarding the capital were spot on.
-The return of the series's best female character, Musica.
-Sung Juu and his reaction to the promise, when he learns about it.
-What Gilda whispered into Emma's ear at the end.

Cons:
-The Goldy Pond kids. Seriously, at this point what exactly is their use in the story? Especially knowing that their fight with the demons invading the base will be: a)Offscreened b)Watered down, since all those demons will be fodder.
-Ray finding that note about the antidote. Imo this was a completely forced part of the chapter, as small as it is. That poison is supposed to be a trump card, no? Why would you leave such an important note lying around carelessly? Though, if the Lambda kids used that poison on themselves (Poisoning their blood), that would be an interesting development.

Final chapter rating: 8/10

Yakusoku no Neverland/The Promised Neverland - Chapter 149 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: The Call of Duty

This Week's Chapter of Neverland picks things up right where we left off with Emma and Ray making their way towards Norman, while on their way Emma kept thinking about how they have to stop Norman at all costs before it's too late while passing demon corpses and destroyed buildings with the explosions all over the city not ceasing in the slightest. They reach one of the Castle's Towers and attempt to enter it but to their surprise all the gates have been locked,we remember that this is Vincent's doing as he took care of the Security for the Capital with his Squad, Ray wants to continue looking for another way in but is stopped by Emma who has spotted a small window above the gates to enter. He recalls the blueprints of the Castle that he saw back at their Hideout and realizes that through this window they could still reach the upper floors, the only downside is that it's a bit too high up for both to reach ,Ray makes a foothold for Emma with his hands with the latter making quickly for the window. She will stop Norman, everybody will have to hang tough but she will definitely stop him for all their sakes and his own. The scene cuts back to the Royal Chambers where only Queen Legravalima and Lord Ivelk remain of the Nobles after House Gilan's previous attacks,Ivelk thinks to himself how impressive said display has been given that these deteriorating Demons managed to take out even Lord Dozza who used to be House Gilan's War Chief with battle prowess only second to the Queen's own in a single strike.

What has Ivelk on his toes even more is that said attack hasn't been executed by Lord Gilan himself but one of his servants,he concludes that all 10 of the servants surrounding Gilan are some sort of Elite Force equal to or above Lord Dozza in ability, he is simply impressed by House Gilan and their Leader. However,Ivelk can't help but feel like something is strange since so far the Nobles assumed that it was Gilan and his Clan that were raiding and destroying the farms and while at it they consumed all the meat from them but when they arrived their shape resembled those of Demons living in the wild meaning the raids and even the attack on the Capital have been planned and executed by someone else entirely but who? As Ivelk tries to gather his thoughts and strength in the face of Gilan and his servants he is ordered to back down by the Queen, one of Gilan's servants thinks how she just made a wise move by doing so since Ivelk can be considered the cornerstone of the crown who handles all the practical affairs within the Capital and as we remember he also was the one to forge the original promise with Julius hundreds of years ago. They will deal with him once the Queen and Norman have been eaten by Gilan and he's become the new King, right now they need to defeat the Queen first though. As the Elite servants attempt to attack the Queen she calls them a bunch of fools and decapitates 3 of them with a single swing of her claws only to mow down several more of Gilan's men in an instant.

As his comrades lifelessly fall to the ground with shattered and cut through masks one of the Elites reminiscinces about the path they had to walk on only to get back here and take back what is theirs, they will not waste this chance. Some of the Servants disagreed with the Queen and Nobles judgement of Lord Gilan and protested against them only to be exiled alongside their Leader,Gilan and his Wife wanted them to stop their protests and live their lifes merrily but they rather wanted to live a Life in which Gilan is King and rules them. As things had to come Gilan alongside his servants and Wife were exiled and tied to trees in a forest outside the Capital and left to the wild without any food to eat, something that moved some of his servants that followed his wishes and didn't protest so much that they offered him to eat their bodies so he can resume a somewhat human like form again and escape his decided fate. The Life and Freedom they had was given to them by their comrades sacrifices making it their duty to prove the righteousness of their cause, they did not devour another and endure their exile all this time to lose and die to these arrogant and cruel nobles but to achieve Victory. The Queen continues to kill and injure more of Gilan's Warriors only to almost fall victim to a surprise attack from the Servant that killed Dozza before, she dodges his swing in the last second and cuts half of his head off instead and praises him as his attack was the closest anyone will get today.

The servants knew all the time that none of them would be able to match or defeat a Royal in battle, but they didn't just come here to try and die they came to make Gilan the new King of the Demons. With the last amounts of their energy the servants get up a final time, to reveal that they tied explosives to their bodies ready to set off whenever they want, the Queen realizes this and attempts to get away but is surrounded by the servants all simultaneously lighting their explosives: "Long Live Lord Gilan!" is all that echoes through the halls before a huge blast sets off engulfing the Queen. With her retainers and Ivelk in utter shock...

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter a 9 out of 10.

Interesting Chapter, cleared a few things up for me and proved some thoughts i had about the situation and the Demons Knowledge as correct. At least to some extent i guess, not surprised by the Queen's power and skill since she is Lewis Sister after all. Like Brother like Sister they say...It was interesting to see and learn more about Gilan's past and early exile, the devotion and faith his followers have and had into him to the extent of letting him and his Elites eat them to sustain some of their intellect and form was incredible to witness and pretty emotional i found. It now makes sense why it was Ivelk that forged the promise and held the negotiations with Julius back then given his position within the Demon Kingdom, he is technically the advisor to the Royal Family thanks to his sharp intellect and knowledge and it seems like losing him would cost more than the actual Queen dying since as long as Ivelk is around the system and power remains within their hands and someone else can rise to power. It seems as long as their results and efforts get acknowledged even Commoners can rise into the Ranks of Royalty/Nobility,but we don't know enough about that just yet. I feel like that's the case though. Now i'm just wondering if and where Musica and Song Juu will appear and if Emma will get to Norman without anyone getting into her way, looking forward to it like always! Till next time everybody!

The Promised Neverland Chapter 150 Review by Elusia

Overview:

The chapter continues on the fight between Gillan and his army against the Demon Queen, but she attacks back and the army gets slashed. However, she notices a substance that is covering her hands and body. It is a trap from the army as they knew they wouldn’t stand a chance against all the demon nobles, but wanted, at least, the head of the queen. They decided to hold her down while they all give their lives for Gillan. He devours his entire army whereas the queen struggles to get out of her situation. While doing so, he finishes his meal and attacks her head with a large demon-made bat. The mask is still in shape, so he tries smashing it over and over again, reminiscing about the times where she was cruel to him and his clan. The mask eventually breaks apart and he’s ready to destroy her. But as he brings his sword through her eye, he suddenly stops. She secretly attacked him and his whole body was torn, leaving him nothing but his head and small chunks of his former figure.

The queen fully gets out of the trap and grabs Gillan’s head, saying that she didn’t think he’d go as far as he did. She even goes on to say that it was impressive and thanks him for his performance. But, she stated that it was just laughable as he should have just lived in the mountains and valleys. She points to his torn-up body, expresses that he already left his path of righteousness the moment he strayed from his ideals from before and taunts him that he just corrupted himself. He tries regenerating, but she slashes up the chunks again, and even before doing it again, she drops him and smashes through his head. The demon Ivelk witnesses the entire slaughter and howling throughout, praising the queen for the being strongest, then bad-mouthing Gillan. He stomps on his dead body, as he keeps repeating nasty words to him. The other demons suggest a new mask for her and as she starts to bite on Gillan’s dead head, there were sudden shots of bullets. The door opens slowly, revealing Zazie, one of Norman’s group.

Thoughts:

This chapter is the conclusion to the overall fight between Gillan and the Demon Queen. Giving an honest opinion, the battle was a mixed bag, as it was pretty predictable, with the only exception being the reveal of Gillan’s true body in an earlier chapter. It was also way too long. But it was satisfying enough for me to want to see what happens next in Norman’s plan and how his forces will take her down. She’s pretty strong, so I wonder what will he do, even if he has Zazie on his side.

Overall, the chapter is neat. I rate it a solid 6/10.

The Promised Neverland Chapter 151 Review by Emperor Spriggan

Chapter title reminds me of a line from Naruto. During the Fourth Shinobi World War Arc, which was a pretty underwhelming arc all things considered. Funny how this chapter is pretty much the same.

Though, let's see what some of the cast members thought of the chapter. Maybe they saw it different from me

"Another chapter where I get praised as the best thing in this manga since sliced bread? Excellent, exquisite chapter. I rate it a 8/10"- Norman Liebert, rubbing his none existent beards.

"This garbage, of course another chapter where I get to do NOTHING of note, honestly though, why am I still here?"-Ray

"You're talking about not doing anything of note, I legit cannot remember the last time I did anything significant in this chapter. Lol, maybe that one time I slapped Emma. Which I'm sure no one even remembers now. Even worse considering Emma hasn't changed the least bit since then, lmao."-Gilda remarks, while snorting.

"What do you mean I've not changed since then?" -Emma asks, genuinely oblivious.

"Guys please, let's just get along with the review."- Ray says, while face palming.

--
Zazie shows up, following up from last chapter's ending. The queen acknowledges his sudden presence, but he doesn't give her a moment to react, immediately leaping to attack her. He manages to land a few blows, proving to already be more formidable than Giran and his clan. From behind the Queen, two of the other Lambda kids show up (I genuinely forgot their names, and no, I can't be assed to go back and check).

Cut to a flashback, Norman is instructing the kids about how to fight the Queen. He actually gives a pretty logical explanation, but I don't think it applies here. At least so far from what we've seen of the Queen. Basically, the demons expend energy when fighting, and for basically their super human activities. That means the more tired they get, the easier it is to get down. Really though, the Queen didn't even use that much energy to fight Giran, right? Realistically she should still be in top shape. Wish there was a more realistic alternative to taking her down but meh, c'est la vie.

Additionally, Norman warns the kids not to let any of the demons eat even as little as a finger. Attack, attack, attack, relentlessly. The female Lambda member realizes the Queen's movements have slowed down. The Queen states that she just needs a little nourishment, which will bring her back to normal. She mutates her arm and runs Barbara through (Finally I remember her name), intending to eat the girl. Zazie throws his sword and severs the Queen's arm.

Once he has lost the sword, he proceeds to lose his mind. Meaning he needs to get back on his meds? That, or he has always been a bit on the loopy side. You know the thing about Zazie, he reminds me of a character straight out of Tokyo Ghoul, haha. But I can't quite place my finger on who, I think it's someone from the Suzuya arc. The Queen reattaches her arm just as Zazie runs it through with his sword.

Just then, all the demons in the room undergo a similar reaction. The scientist smiles, seeing that his poison is working wonders. We then switch to Emma's perspective, getting an expose on the poison's properties. Apparently, the poison causes the demons to degenerate forcefully.

The chapter ends with Zazie jumping at the Queen, and then a spray of blood. Right. We OBVIOUSLY all know that's the Queen's blood, and the big bad of the arc has just been offed by a Tokyo Ghoul reject.

Pros:
-Not even any significant ones to point out tbh. I guess the poison was nice? Learning about it, but it's a little obvious it won't work. Worst case scenario is that Emma and her group are going to show up there with the antidote.

Cons:
-Just about everything else. The Lambda kids aren't interesting enough to carry the plot forward. In that regard, the Goldy Pond kids are better. It's obvious all of them will be killed off (Whether to hype the Queen or not remains to be seen).

Final Chapter rating:5/10

Yakusoku no Neverland/The Promised Neverland - Chapter 152 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: It's Time

Screaming in the streets...Demons of all ages running in fear and terror...from their fellow demons. The smell of blood and poison lies in the air and in the middle of all this we spot Don,Gilda,Musica and Song Juu analyzing the situation. Norman and his allies weren't able to produce a lot of the poison before attacking the Capital apparently as they only managed to infect a small but highly popular place in the city: The Central Square, the best spot to cause panic and infect as many demons as possible with the small amount they had available. As the Musica-group reaches the Central Square they realize that they're already too late to stop the spreading of the Poison, with many demons starting to devolve already as reported by Aishe, they're going to try and stop any further damage to both the Demons and the capital. The scene cuts back to the Castle where Zazie is about to strike the Queen down, the latter tried to behead the former with her claws but wasn't quick enough and as a result only ripped the bag on his head apart while Zazie remains in striking range. As the Queen tries to strike again with her other claw she is stopped by Cicero who threw a chainblade towards her to stop her arm from moving, with success because the now exposed Zazie(Who looks a lot like one of the Ghouls from Tokyo Ghoul by the way-) used this opening to deal her a fatal blow. A clean slash right through her head, sending one of her eyeballs flying.

Similar to Lewis, the Queen has a final memory sequence. She always hated the feel of craving something,be it meat or glory. She is the most beautiful, the strongest that has been born with the blood of Kings, someone that has to be obeyed by everyone. The one to get the best meat isn't the Demon God,it is her alone, she remembers the time when Ivelk had forged the promise with Julius and the God next. When Ivelk reported the happenings to the previous King, who happened to be the Queen's father, she murdered him from behind and ate parts of him only to rise to the Throne herself. The queen had everything she could ask for,but she never got to eat the most finest among the Premium goods: 22194,Norman. As her flashback ends she hears footsteps closing in on her, coming from noone but Norman himself,as he reaches the Queen he looks down on her and greets her like nothing happened here. The Queen realizes that it was Norman behind the attack on the Capital and reveals that it was her that had Norman sent to Lambda simply because she didn't want to offer him to their God,she keeps thinking about how badly she wants to eat Norman. She loses herself in rage now,and begins to scream in Demonic Language how much she has craved Norman's flesh and bone to a point where she fell in a deep rage and anger over hearing of Lambda's destruction back then. She won't offer Norman to anyone as he is her meat and hers alone!

Angered by the Queen's remarks Norman responds to her, also in demonic language, that no Human will ever have to end up as food for the likes of the Demons ever again. He orders Zazie to end the Queen's life now as she's said more than enough, the groups attention turns to Ivelk who is now the last remaining Noble alongside his retainers,Vincent and his Squad have entered the chambers as well now ready to throw down. Cicero thinks to himself that once Ivelk is dead the common Demons will have no Queen anymore,no chain of leadership to rely on anymore and will ultimately face extinction, all their suffering and pain from Lambda to this very moment will be over now!. As his allies move towards Ivelk to eliminate him we can see Norman facing an inner struggle as he imagines a little Emma pulling on his cape with a sad look on her face, next to her is a smaller Norman who looks just as down. The scene cuts to Emma and Ray who just managed to enter the Royal hallway through their detour from before,as Ray points her to the Royal Chambers Emma begins thinking: "Norman can stop fighting now,we made a new promise already, nobody has to worry anymore. I'm coming now!". But what she see's upon entering the Chambers crushes any and all hope within her instantly...countless bodies lying on the floor, and even more blood is splattered everywhere. As she calls out to Norman she is met by the boy himself. Giving her his usual nonchalant smile,he apologizes to her but it's too late now to go her way...

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter a 8.5 out of 10.

Interesting Chapter really,a lot of strong and impactful panels as well with the art on point and going along with the set atmosphere and tone the chapter had, really good. Zazie reminded me of the Ghouls in Tokyo Ghoul, with the black eyes and all,his strength and physical prowess is nothing to sneeze at either. Makes sense that he would be the one bodyguard that Norman would always have with him when meeting Gilan and raiding the plantations before, the Queen's flashback was interesting so she never really had the intention to obey the Demon God's demands despite Ivelk urging Julius not to question them but just follow through. Makes me wonder if these demands are really to be strictly obeyed or are nothing but part of the God's games with those beneath him?

Norman's interaction with the Queen was interesting,to think it was her that ordered for Norman to be brought into Lambda, that had me surprised to be honest. But that made sense too since the Demons monitor the Premium Plantations even more closely than anything else, although it makes me wonder why only Norman was on her agenda since i thought Emma and Ray too are of great interest among the Demons in terms of "Who i'd like to eat someday...".:grumble This was the Norman i was waiting to see though, cold and not hiding his true intentions in the least,he never had any plans to slow down or wait for Emma in the first place it seems. With Ivelk dead there isn't a Noble left that could restore the Demons hierarchy and Political system again. There is no Ruler anymore. Just incredible i found, but i do wonder what is going to happen now, since Emma's promise was basically for naught now and Norman achieved his goal. Till next time everybody!

The Promised Neverland Chapter 153 Review by Elusia

Overview:

The chapter starts off a gloomy atmosphere where Emma and Ray finally seeing Norman and put an end to his plans. Unfortunately, Norman has already finished, leaving only the bodies of dead demons around them. He and his crew killed all of them by turning on them against each other. Emma is shocked, but exclaims to Norman that they manage to remake the promise so that everyone can escape to the human world. Everyone in the room are as shocked as she was previously as she continues on that violence and genocide plans are not needed. He is not convinced and telling them that it’s already over. They killed every royal and noble and even murdered the last noble demon, Ivelk. They’ll soon extermine other demons as they never turn back of what they just did. She refuses, backing up her claims earlier stating that there is another way to fix the current demon and children problem. He was about to snap at her, but she goes on, saying that she already changed her mind and she won’t let him deal with it anymore. He tells her that he’s not going anywhere, but she asserts that he’s just lying, to the surprise of everyone again. She expresses that he’s just suffering through everything. He clearly doesn’t want a total annihilation and has been lying to both them and his group. She wants him to just say how he really feels in his state and why he feels the need to hide them, wondering if he’s afraid of someone or something. She likens the situation to him trembling in fear like a little boy.

Norman thinks through what Emma just said. He realizes he is indeed scared. Back at Lambda, he was forced to drink substances and getting experimented on. He was alone, but hoping for his one goal of saving all of the kids to succeed in spite of it. Flashback after flashback alternate through his head. He then tells her that he isn’t turning back on his plan, but she refuses again. While she walk towards him, he acknowledges in his mind that he is scared. He’s terrified on all different scenarios that come to play if they weren’t banking on his intial plan. She holds his hands and cries out to him that he’s kindest person she knows, but also the most arrogant and a big coward. He isn’t alone anymore and needs to tell them him everything. Ray is behind her and agrees, saying that he has to accept help. They both express that they are on his side and they are all family. They don’t want him to be a sacrificial person and live in a future where only he suffers the consequences. They firmly asks him what he truly wants. A short silence comes before he steps back and declines. Emma confirms with him that they know what he’s planning, and assure him that it’s not too late. They’ll all feel failure, but they’ll move forward because they have each other and they’ll survive. Having heard enough, he hugs them, stating he wants to live, deep down. But utters them the bad news that he and his group can’t because they don’t have much time left. He kneels down at his friends and cries.

Review:

This chapter is a talk-no-jutsu and it doesn’t shy away from it at the slightest. While, it can be executed nicely with good and understandable situations, I don’t like the trope in general. So, the chapter did get me to roll my eyes a little. But, I don’t necessarily hate how it goes in this. Norman’s obviously the type who would go dangerous lengths in order to save his friends and I did like that it took Emma lots of times before she and Ray finally manage to break his barriers.

It’s now clear that Norman and his group are suffering thanks to the experiments from the demons, but I think they’ll do fine, especially Norman since I don’t believe the authors will kill him off. But we’ll see how it’ll go and how they eventually incorporate the promise into it.

Overall, I give this chapter a solid 6/10.

The Promised Neverland Chapter 154 Review by Hermit

The last chapter was...just all sorts of terrible. Seriously. I still can't believe they pulled such a 180 on the manga. This one sorta redeems it somewhat. Key word:somewhat. And that's solely due to the last page. Otherwise the rest was just....bleh. Still vomit inducing.

Media commentary

Isabella: Sometimes I look at this manga in its current state and feel.....conflicted. On one hand, I'm sad at seeing what it has become. On another, I'm happy because I was part of it in its prime. They've never been able to recapture the original magic ever since I left, hah.

Musica: I'll just stay here doing nothing, hoping that the author doesn't give me any lines. Hey, on the bright side, I still have my loyal fans;P

Sung Ju: Another issue solved through nakama power? This is shonen 'eritage. Shonen 'eritage.

So let's see:

We start immediately from the prior ending after Norman's emotional breakdown. Emma and Ray both offer him a hand, and he wraps them in a warm embrace. This is the second (?) time we've seen this happen. The first time it was in the first arc when Norman was leaving the orphanage. Back then it was so much more emotional. This time, nothing.

Cue a few more scenes between the trio, then BAM! Norman drops the bombshell. He's dying, as was revealed around ten chapters ago. The experiments that all the kids underwent at Lambda all had the adverse effect of shortening their life spans, and the effects are seemingly irreversible. In the background, Vincent and the other kids are confused. This whole time they were under the impression that Norman was unlike them, so he was never subjected to the lab tests. Norman clarifies that was a lie, explaining his origins as being from Grace Field.

The reason he hid such a fact from them was that he didn't want them to worry about him. He wanted to be someone they could depend on wholeheartedly, without any reservations. Ray then asks Norman what he wants to do now, emphasizing that he has to be completely honest. Norman reveals that he doesn't regret killing the nobles, but he'd like to deal with some of the consequences of his actions. Such as the rampant poisoning through the city.

Vincent is irritated (Rightly so, this was like the only realistic character expression in this chapter) He brings back what Norman said a while back about there being no take backs, and that they were supposed to see this right through till the end. Even if Norman intends on giving up, he isn't planning on doing the same. Another of the kids (I forget, their names) tells Vincent that Norman has done quite enough till that point. The random kiddo states that he was able to tell that Norman was in pain the whole time, but that made him all the more impressive.

Norman is reassured that if he wants to stop, he can just go ahead and put a halt to his plans. They are grateful for him stopping the demons, but more than anything, they just want Boss to be okay (Obvious death flag here, though maybe not so obvious upon reading the first time) Emma reveals that Don and Gilda had already told the two about the seizures. Additionally, there's also a loophole. All the kids who were experimented on Lambda undergo the seizures, with the exception of one. Adam. That opens the possibility of his blood being a possible antidote.

Ray says there's no time to waste since the royal army is searching for Norman's hideout. They need to leave immediately, but the poison has to be dealt with first. Vincent is skeptical about what they intend on doing about the poison. Emma explains that Don, Gilda, Musica and Sung Ju are all on the matter, so there's nothing to worry about.

Just then, before all the kids inside the castle are about to vacate the premises, the Queen rises once more. This time, not as a living person, but as the Night Queen;P Hopefully this has a better conclusion than Game of Thrones Season 8.

Pros:
-Vincent's reaction to Norman. He was surprisingly the only logical person in that room
-The Queen rising to command the dead. I thought she had died WAY too quickly, especially after seeing how much trouble her brother gave Emma and co.

Cons:
-Norman's character regressing at an alarmingly fast rate -.-
-Emma
-The Adam cop out. It makes sense but it just feels....so unearned.
-Emma
-The other Lambda kids not being argumentative enough about Norman's decision. This had so much potential. Barbra especially, after remembering how livid she was at Emma beforehand. Where did all that anger go?
-And finally, Emma *Insert angry blob*

Final chapter rating: 6/10

Yakusoku no Neverland/The Promised Neverland - Chapter 155 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: Resurrection

This Week's Chapter of Neverland brings us into the middle of the chaos that is unfolding in the Capital right now as the Demons that returned to their beast forms due to the poison spreading attack their humanoid fellow citizens, with Ayshe,Don,Gilda,Musica and Song Juu trying to stop and reverse the effects of the poison. They're attempting to do so by inflicting non-lethal damage upon them, stopping them in their tracks, and by trying to have them drink Musica's blood to return to their former states just without any limit or need for human meat. While Don and Gilda keep the Demons at bay with their bow and arrows we can see Ayshe deliver skillful shots with her rifle,Gilda notes that it is pretty tough to stop them without killing anyone accidentally and even more so since the Beast Demons regenerate instantly, meanwhile Hayato wonders just how they can make the Beasts drink Musica's blood but Song Juu has a solution of his own. He swiftly severs one of his arms and throws it towards a Beast Demon who catches it like a dog would a bone, and quickly gulps it down,to everybodies surprise it works immediatly and he changes back into his original form while Musica offers her blood to some Children while promising that this will solve all their problems. As he sees this Don can't help but celebrate this turn of events, they're going to stop this genocide at all costs while Emma handles the rest.

The scene changes back into the Throne Room where Norman is about to be devoured by the Queen...or is he? Turns out he is not, because Cicero does an impressive feat of saving Norman and his own life by sacrificing his leg to her. Everybody expresses shock at his heroism but there's no time to spare,as the Queen chews on his leg Emma,Norman and Vincent quickly tend to his wound and to avoid too extensive blood loss they need to take care of it immediatly. As they do Ray notices the Queen's body beginning to ingest all the corpses and limbs lying around in the chamber, but not just that, her body starts growing and changing into a shape he has never seen before. Several arms are sprouting out of the new monstrosity that are reaching for the remaining bodies lying around, witnessing this Ray tells everybody to stay back to observe the creature first,Vincent notices that it is even ingesting all the contaminated bodies with the poison without any drawbacks or effects showing. Ray asks Norman what they should do about this as they can't leave it like this but the latter remains in shock as he confirmed himself that the core had been destroyed, prompting Ray to conclude that either the Queen can survive her core's destruction or she and the other Royals possess more than one core,we remember Norman's claim that Royal blood is in a class of it's own. Norman begins to act now too as he orders Vincent and his Squad to leave the Castle and lead their forces back to HQ.

The Queen attempts to attack using her many arms which are quickly dealt with by Zazie who cuts any off that come towards Norman and Co's direction, however, one of the severed arms begins to grow a face of Sister Krone who greets Norman,Emma and Ray after all this time naturally shocking our protagonists. But she's not the only one that has been devoured by the Queen, there are also faces forming on the main body showing Gilan,Bayon and Ivelk as well as some of Emma's friends from Grace Field and the former King of the Demons. The Queen's body now looks very grotesque,Emma realizes in shock that all their friends and allies got eaten by this thing in the past while Norman begins to panic as he has no idea how to handle this being with their current manpower. Suddenly cracks begin to scatter across the monstrosity and it begins to open up like a cocoon, out of which the Queen steps but to everybodies surprise her face now show's no facial features at all...

Neverland will be on break next week as the Author is busy doing research for the Manga.

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter an 8 out of 10.

So,looks like we're more and more closing in as to if and how Lewis could still be alive. This Display of resurrection by the Queen has been rather impressive and a little creepy. Now we know what happened to all of Emma's shipped Friends, although after learning of the Demon's Royalty and the fact that the kids would never hear from any of their friends again we could guess that much probably. But,granted, there was the possibility that like Norman some would have been shipped to another Plantation for reasons. Now i'm wondering what happened to Phil even more,i hope he has not been eaten or kidnapped by Andrew back then...I'm also shocked how both Cicero and Barbra are still alive and kicking,or well, let's not say kicking but alive...yeah...that. For all means and purposes they should be dead by now given what they faced off with. And while i like that Norman is panicking and wondering what to do for a change i did not like that he just casually told Vincent to go and scram because they'll do "something about this",i just hope this defeat(However it will happen) will not be nonsensical. Till next time everybody!!!

The Promised Neverland Chapter 156 Review by the Hermit Spriggan

International break was definitely needed with the quality of the chapter. The author reconsidered everything. From character selection to tactics, even the half time team talk was done really well. Beautiful chapter this week.

Media commentary before kick off:

Isabella: Ha, gotcha good with that troll reveal didn't I?;P But patience. Not long now before I make my grand comeback to the manga. But before then, Happy Halloween, my lovelies!

Minute 00.01:

After last week's stellar cliffhanger, this one picks up from there. The Queen reveals her horrendous form to Emma and her group. Norman notes that she has no face, while Emma remembers one of the drawings from the Uchiha tablet having the same form as the Queen currently.

The faceless figure now talks, expressing glee at the quality of food that's in front of her, stating it to be fitting of a being of her calibre. She recognizes Norman, Emma and Ray as being from Grace Field. She adds on that someone was indeed speaking the truth about the creme de la creme of Grace Field being alive. Probably referring to Black Zetsu, hah. The Queen says she will forgive the Grace Field and Lambda kids for everything. She then proceeds to pull in Zazie and prepares to eat him. Her face suddenly distorts and several mouths appear from it.

Emma readies her gun, and Zazie slashes at the Queen, splitting her into two. She reforms her body within seconds, and proceeds to knock out Zazie with her hand. Norman rushes to her side, while Emma still has her gun held up at the Queen.

The superior being taunts her and Ray, asking if they are both intending on shooting. While with Zazie, Norman is panicking, realizing that the Queen having no head means she has no core. He despairs over finding a way to beat her. Both Emma and Ray realize that their guns probably will do no good, but they can at least get information out of the Queen.

A vile aura suddenly leaks out of the Queen, rooting both Emma and Ray to the ground. They're stunned still. She then holds both Emma and Ray up, thinking back to her sons, Hagoromo and Hamura. Tears start to leak from her eyes, as she remembers how her sons conspired to seal her several years ago. Dealt the ultimate betrayal by family, she realizes both Emma and Ray are doing the same now.

Just before she can devour Hamura, projectiles shoot from the window of the palace, impaling the Queen. Sung and Musica have arrived. After checking on their health, Musica reassures them that all the panic in the capitol has been put to a halt. Sung states that he showed the humans an escape route, something that Emma is sorely grateful for.

Removing the projectiles from her body, Sung Ju realizes how monstrous the Queen looks currently. He then tells Ray and Emma peace is impossible with how things are looking. Musica attests to this as well, considering the Five Kage are all dead. (Sasuke actually manages to off them this time, props to him for that). Kaguya states that this is a good day, since aside from the kids, she can also put an end to Musica.

Sung boldly states that he will kill the Queen, a statement she finds laughable. She then refers to him as her little brother (Gasp), and the referee blows the whistle for full time. Second leg should be very very interesting.

Pros:
-The Queen's current display of power is really really well done. Considering Emma and co. have obviously gotten stronger ever since they fought Lewis, seeing her overpower them like this is very much welcome.
-Sung Ju incoming backstory. This whole time I thought he was just Musica's bodyguard.
-Musica making a comeback.

Cons:
-None of the kids will die, despite all the death and destruction ongoing currently. Feels like a bit of cop out.
-Musica contributing nothing to this upcoming fight ;(

Final Chapter rating:7.5/10

The Promised Neverland - Chapter 158: Review by Zers Editor

Overview:

The chapter starts with Musica, recalling her past, wondering why or how she came to be. She was different, and it brought her many bad things. But Musica still took joy in helping others. But then, thanks of the queen, her friends and family were killed, and she was imprisoned. But thanks to Sonju, she escaped and kept in hiding for 700 years. By the end of reminiscing, she asks of her purpose and right to be alive.

Afterward, chapter continues from where the previous one left off. Musica asks, why the queen is so starving. Despite all the terrible things she did to her, Musica continues to pity the queen for her view on things. Legravalima declares that she is not afraid of anything and takes strong pride in her heritage. Her patience with Musica breaks however, when the evil-blood says that "she's already dead".

Just the moment before she reaches Musica with her claws, her hand suddenly starts bursting with meat mass, full of demon/human heads. It turns out to be the cell failure. Musica explains, that it came to be because of the overbearing amount of bodies she absorbed at once, which implies improper digestion. With Norman's poison added to the mix, that the majority of the demons in the room were still possessing, any amount of stability her body had was completely lost. And so, the queen has rendered her second core wasted. The overwhelming amount of consciousness' and memories of the beings she devoured start pressing on her psyche.

Musica reminiscences once more. She declares that now, after the 700 years, she knows what to do, thanks to meeting Emma and her friends: to change the demons - and now is the time to make it happen.

All the heads that came out continue to regain self-awareness, and Legravalima finally gets lost in all of it, losing herself. Musica says goodbye to the queen of the demons, as she melts.

Thoughts:

It was the best in awhile. The parallel between the Musica and the queen as unique individuals, for whom and why they utilized themselves was really good. The art was great, it feels to me that Posuka was really focused with this one. The death of the queen fits perfectly with her narcissistic self, with her greed and lack of care leaving her to be devoured from the inside. It would be really nice for the anime to get to this point. With proper sound and animation, it's going to be incredibly effective. I really wonder where Shirai/Posuka will go from now, considering that the hideout is still in danger and that Ayshe is still around, making the definitive clash between her and Lambda very much possible. And Ratri getting mentioned a lot recently, it won't be long till he makes his move in answer to these events. That's for sure.

I give this chapter an 8/10.

The Promised Neverland Chapter 159 Review by Elusia

Overview:

The chapter continues where it leaves off last time where the queen is defeated. Before her demise, images from her flashbacks start piling up. It’s also evident of her growing too much power by her broken cup and surrounding herself with countless treasures. She wondered if her true desire is something besides everything she has. She wanted the special human meat to quench that thirst, only to finally die.

The kids went to Zazie’s side while Musica was relieved. At the same time, Sonju contemplated that since all the royals are dead, the whole demon world will inevitably change. He was also astonished that the human kids were able to defeat them and remade a promise with the demon god. He then questioned the aftermath. He’ll have to spend the rest of his life not meeting another human ever again despite wanting to eat them. He was silenced in the short ordeal of Emma and Musica hugging. Then, Ray asked what they’d do next. As if a little similar to Sonju’s thoughts, he says that the whole demon administration is dead and it could mean total chaos for the entire demon race. If nothing else, there could be a full war. Emma asks Sonju to be the next king, but he says it’s not possible. He doesn’t have anything to do with demon politics and he’s still known as a rebel. However, Musica assures Emma that they’ll find a solution while they go back to their hideout. They can still present the idea that it was only a civil between the demons so that they could avoid further deaths. She also feels that the remaining royal army will bear bad news if they reach their destinations. Emma reluctantly accepts, but for Sonju, he feels the opposite. He doesn’t feel unease either when she hugs him, tells him about her personal two-year journey and even admits that she wanted to die at that time they met. But because of that, she had rejected the idea of killing the demons and thanked them for everything.

As the kids leave, the two demons started the conversation. She asked if he’s fine with the decision, but Sonju is having none of it. She also confessed that she was lying to Emma about having a plan, but Sonju had backup even if it’s risky. Meanwhile, the kids deduce the one who’s responsible. Norman says that it was all Peter Ratri’s plan.

Thoughts:

After reading the chapter, I get to see more of Sonju besides his fight with the queen in this arc. While I really like him, he was just a cool kind of character with recent revelations like being an exiled prince. But this chapter defines him. The one gripe for me about him was his eternal conflict with him and the kids and I’m glad that they addressed it here, being another example of the demons not as black and white as they used to. Peter Ratri’s also back and I do hope we get some explanation during his disappearance. More backstory and characteristics about him sound great too so he wouldn’t be just an obstacle for the kids to overcome.

Overall, I’m quite happy with this chapter and give it a solid 8/10.

Yakusoku no Neverland/The Promised Neverland - Chapter 160 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: The Shackles

This Week's Chapter of Neverland starts with a Flashback to Norman's strategy meeting with Cicero,Barbara and Vincent when they were discussing about the Ratri's possible interference with their plans, Norman brushes the possibility aside as they could easily reveal all of the Ratri's crimes to the Demon Nobles and turn the situation against Peter Ratri. While James Ratri's actions may have been noble and just they would be considered as a betrayal towards the Demons, since they are responsible for the Grace Field Escape,The Destruction of Lambda and by extension the downfall of Goldy Pond. Due to that Peter Ratri can only stay hidden and isolated for the time being as he can only take small actions that wouldn't amount to much if anything due to Demons roaming the lands trying to locate the Hideout of Norman as well. Peter must be feeling irritated as things outside of his control keep getting into his way all thanks to his Brothers efforts in the past,we readers can confirm this to be the truth as we remember Peter sending out Andrew and his Elite Squad to go after Emma and Co. right after Goldy Pond's fall while the Demons were mourning the passing of Lord Bayon and Archduke Lewis. They were a small squad of 8 men,Andrew as on his own when interrogating Phil back at Grace Field all this just to not draw any unwanted attention to themselves. However, that was only half true, while Andrew did his best to pursue Emma and her friends Peter was busy seeking an audience with the Queen of the Demons with a request. Before being granted said audience he told his followers that he would confess all the happenings and shortcomings of them to the Queen as there is no other way to move forward for them as a Family after the blows they've taken. Despite the initial protest Peter insisted on it,because not only is there plenty of room to negotiate their honor as the Mediator Family between the 2 Worlds is at stake.

Peter won't let the "Cattle" do as they please no matter what, even if that means swallowing his pride and bowing to the Queen of the Demons,a bit later in the Throne Room we see the Queen counting down all of the sins confessed by Peter. As she's clearly looking down on him for failing she asks why he came in front of her if the only thing he has to report is failure,Peter responds that while he may have failed before it was only due to his very limited options he requests of the Queen to lend him half of her Military's entire forces in order to hunt down the Escapees efficiently. The Queen questions why she is supposed to aid her soldiers to Peter when it was his failure in the first place, some of the other Nobles would be furious with him as many of them lost beloved Family Members at Goldy Pond but Peter replies that this is exactly why he wishes to handle the matter before the end of the Tifari. Under the cover of the festivities he will have free hand without any of the other Lords interferring with his wishes and once he was to deliver the fugitives to any of them a big inner turmoil would unfold due to them claiming personal losses and stakes. He only wants the Queen to decide about the fate of the fugitives and no one else,so he will deliver them to her, The Queen praises Peter for being so brazen in front of her as it sounds like he is trying to use the Queen to cover for his own failues while also avoiding any rage from the other Nobles. She however, agrees to his Request, and lends him 2000 of her Soldiers in order to capture and hunt down the fugitives, once captured they're going to be delivered to her and if Peter is to fail he himself will be her next meal. Back in the present we see Norman struggling to believe that Peter banked everything on the Queen's greed and hunger to get his way,Ray questions if he will be able to find their hideout but Norman claims that while he may not know the exact location of it he might have an idea how to get there anyway due to the pattern of their fake tracks.

Ray and Emma realize that their next and final enemy is also the worst they could ever encounter, the Supporters of Goldy Pond which caused suffering and death to countless children, the erectors of the current system which has fed thousands of humans to the Demons, the ones responsible for the death of James Ratri,Yuugo,Lucas and many of their friends: The Ratri Clan, led by Peter Ratri!. As they finally reach the end of the tunnel they're quickly reunited with Don and Gilda, while Norman doesn't know what to say his friends just go ahead and give him a big hug. However, their reunion is cut short as Aysh comes face to face with Norman having a serious expression on her face but before she can say anything Norman tells her something in demonic language which surprises her. Norman urges Emma and Ray to keep moving as they have no time to waste with Peter coming for them,Ray calms Norman as they first need to assess the situation: Where are the Soldiers? Is the Hideout still safe? etc. Emma thinks they should meet up with Olivers Team first to get back faster as they're on horseback, the scene cuts to the hideout where Gillian is shocked as the entire place is empty. Many of the Book shelves have been broken and on the ground you can see several demonic footsteps hinting at their comrades fate...

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter an 8.5 out of 10.

Interesting Chapter of Neverland this week, though i'm not sure how to feel about Norman just predicting what Peter is up to while they go and attack the Royals and the Capital,i mean it had been a good amount of time since he saw Peter and had any grasp of his actions yet he more or less figured out what he would be doing while they go and see their plan through. I'm surprised by how gutsy Peter was when he just told the Queen everything in order to get her Military Aid,could have gone either way really, but he banked high and won. Which does beg the Question why he even would consider that? Does that mean Andrew and his Elite Squad where all he had in terms of experienced and well trained Soldiers? Either that or he was afraid he would not be able to stop/stand against Norman and the Grace Field escapees with just his own forces, which would be hard to believe but with the Abnormals from Lambda anything would go i guess. I'm just curious if he,while very likely, really is responsible for all the Children disappearing? Oliver was on his way back to try and warn everybody of what was coming for them,so unless he didn't make it back i'm confused as to what could've happened elsewise since Gillian was left behind and if everybody was to hide or Peter had something to do with it she would not still be there right? Hmm,we'll see soon enough i suppose. Till next time everybody!!!

Yakusoku no Neverland Chapter 161 Review by H

Chapter starts with Peter raiding Norman's shelter accompanied by a horde of demons. He greets the children, condescendingly referring to them as cattle, as big boss music plays in the background.

Perspective shifts to Emma and the rest of the kids who were in the Capitol. They just managed to overthrow the system, and Emma came out as the winner of the Hunger Games. Along with Ray Mellark and Norman Hawthorne. Norman runs into Vincent and the rest of the Lambda kids. Turns out they had followed him from the Capitol, insisting that it was hard not to worry about him. Norman proceeds to inform them about the demise of the Queen, news that they take gleefully.

Oliver shows up a few moments later, on horseback. He tells the group that the hideout was eviscerated. This prompts Katniss and her group to rush towards the shelter, and along the way Gilian and Nigel divulge the rest of the details. Gilian explains that the kids were all taken to Grace Field House, since it was the nearest and most secure facility.

Panic starts to creep in. The demon troops number as much as 2000, and there are only a measly 10 kids. There are also wounded kids and the Lambda products are in no condition to fight. Just when all hope seems lost, Katniss speaks up.

She tells the group that they should go to District 13. Peeta points out that they are discussing a plan on how to rescue the kids, and she says they will think of something as they head there. Going on, she says that the original trio are reunited with each other. Aside from that, they have already all changed the world. Despite starting off as cattle kids. It's an achievement they should all be verily proud of, so there was one more step left.

Norman breaks out into laughter, admitting that Emma's words filled him with a certain sense of confidence. Ray adds on to this sentiment, and slowly by slowly, the kids start filling with confidence. Self belief, that they could actually manage to pull this off.

With their minds all made up, they set out to Grace Field, fully intent on saving their family.

Pros:
-Errrr.....rain check on that. Maybe the Hunger Games references in the review;P

Cons:
-Emma's consistent positivity. Not even a whisker of character development. Pretty much the same character she was at the start of the story is the one she is at the end. With all she has been through.....but oh well.
-Norman and Ray going along with it. Ray tried to protest but....wasn't able to uphold it.

Chapter rating is 5/10, was genuinely average material.

The Promised Neverland Chapter 162 Review by Elusia

Overview:

The chapter in the current rampant state of the demon capital where Sonju and Musica headed towards the temple. He explained to her the origins of the demons inside who were once as adored as the gods and were driven away from the city. They appointed kings, assisted their administration and supported by the people around them. While they eventually lost their power, the demons still have a lot of respect for them. One of them was the high priest and his four sages, which she recognized. The priest said to the demon people that they are allowed to break their beliefs after the forged promise to protect their own lives, but has to observe everything they do and pray for them. As such, they can eat cultivated meat and believed that what they are eventually doing to serve the priest and the sages suppressed the anger of their demon god. When Sonju and Musica went inside the temple, there lied said demons who had been alive for so long due to suspended animation. He didn’t know exactly what happened, but known that they had stop the process, stayed alive and prayed continuously for the demons. He then told her that she has to use her blood to revive them and make the priest the new demon king as it’s their only option left.

While Musica got to work, the robot owl that was created by Peter Ratri as well as numerous spies that were scattered around the capital found out about the demon attack and reported them to their boss. His lackeys found it very unlikely, but he told them that they can use that opportunity to strike back by telling the demons who are currently alive to have a war against the humans who killed the royalty. Then, he would benefit from that war and take the throne and power for himself.

He told his subordinates to withdraw any search parties, bearing in mind that the kids know where they are now headed and needed to wait. He will confront them in Grace Field House, the same place where all of the captured kids are. Awaiting them at the gate were the demon farmers and grandma Isabella.

Thoughts:

Outside of Isabella’s awaited reveal of being the new grandma, which should have happened many chapters ago, this one is pretty okay. Not much occurred outside of what’s going to happen in the long run. Sonju and Musica doing some stuff, Peter being an absolute one-dimensional jerk and more. I’m looking forward to what they’re doing to Isabella since she has so much going for her and a much needed explanation to what she has been doing for so long. Maybe she’s resenting all of it, but has to go through it anyway or has resorted back to being the evil and manipulative villain we see from the first arc. I definitely prefer the former, but anything can happen.

Overall, I give this chapter a solid 6/10.
