First, crop the image if you have to (saves time),
then go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Levels
then, level the image, learn how to here- http://mangahelpers.com/forum/index.php?topic=2433.0
After that, click on the background layer, or the layer with the image,
go to Select>Color Range, then click the dropdown menu and select highlights.
Hit ok. Then hit the delete key. Then press Ctrl+D.
Now you're done, and if you leveled it right, you'll have a MQ-HQ raw!!!

That gets rid of a lot of grays... which reduces the quality.

also this doesn't make it mq-hq.. still a good technique for speed scans though
