The author of Ottoman punlished the first chapter on Twitter a couple days ago, and it blew up a bit:

As a result, the manga briefly shot up the rankings on Kindle, to as high as the Top 50 for all comics.

Last I checked, it was still around the triple digits in rankings. Time will tell how much of an impact this has on Shoseki. I imagine we won't see any results in full until Volume 2 hits, but this manga was on a rapid course to cancellation solely from the Day 1 shoseki rankings, so this may have saved it. It held a lot better than Zelos on Day 2, and I'm interested in seeing if it will increase with Day 3. In any case, we'll have to see.

why don't they put more stuff online? seems pretty obvious they will have a bigger chance of blowing up that way

I agree. Posting the first chapter or two a day or two before the first volume gets released really doesn't seem to have any downside. Worse comes to worse, people just ignore it and they don't get the potential sale that they wouldn't of had in the first place. Seems like for the most part, they like keeping Jump+ and Tonari stuff pretty separated on those online platforms and only allow a couple series onto both, maybe to get more people buying coins?
