Hello minna !

The newbie translator like I am require some help to translate one thing that I couldn't because of my lack of japonese culture/language.

Please at the three images bellow (from Genshiken chapter 45)

In some dialogues there are some ピーーーーーーーー that I dunno how to translate, is it references something particular (at last all is talking about thats YAOI books ^^) or are they just BIIIIIIIP of censor. If needed I can upload the other pages of the chapter.

Thanks a lot for responding.

Hmm after reading it it does seem like it's just "bleeping" it out, like if it were a tv show and they were censoring out a swear word. But I'm pretty sure it's talking about オナニ from the useage, though I could just be taking it too far. They could very well just talking about looking at stuff like that and just getting horny, but yeah- オナニ sounds the most feasible.

Thank you thank you thank you :smile-big

オナニ so this is how they say X-rated mmmh, I've learn one more word, thank to you. To replace in the context, the long black haired wanted to prove that the black spiked haired just love YAOI stuff (in order to she spread a tons of her own YAOI collection on the table XD) so at this rate of the discussion words are becoming "hard".

Well from the WWWJDIC I was having this :

オナニー (de:) (n) (X) (col) masturbation; onanism (de: Onanie)

So I was just thinking that the X as the main sense of the word.

The good thing about a biiiiiiii is that you don't need to translate it, since you have an English equivalent readily available: *Bleep* (add aditional eeeees for prolonged effect, i.e., *bleeeeeeeep*)

Personally, I'd write something like "You guys *bleep*-off looking at this stuff!" :tem

God! Is no subject taboo for the invisible translator forum!?...

ズッポリ嵌る is just another way to say 完全に嵌る instead of just barely being addicted to something you dive head in... completely.

Ok thanks then I think that I'm going to ask you a little again. But don't think that I'm going to ask for each sentence, there's no point for not doing it by myself first. I'll try to ask when I cannot solve it by myself.

In the sentences : 大体 今も結局オタクなわけじゃないですか
トラウマなわけないですよねえ

what mean "なわけ", is it the verb 治す whit a verb formal that I don't know or... ?

Again thanks for responsding.

hmmm it's kinda hard to explain, so I'll translate it for ya and you decide the meaning of なわけ

Well for the most part wouldn't you consider yourself to be an Otaku?
So it's not like it's tramatising to you or anything.

So I guess なわけない would be "it's not like / I'm not like / I/It couldn't be + (the previous word)"

another example could be...

俺が漫画のオタクなわけないでしょうがー全然漫画を読めないから!!!
How could I be an Otaku?! I don't even read manga!!!

That help?

Haaaa it make sense because the white haired one (Saki) is not an Otaku at all (she's just here to hang out with his Otaku's boyfriend and... kick some Otaku's ass sometimes :p)

To replace in the context, they are talking about the fact that the black spiked haired one (Ogiue) had been traumatized by some YAOI's book in her primary school years. But the black long haired one (Oono) still wanted to reveal that Ogiue is a great fangirl of YAOI.

But with that elements I guess the translation could be :

Well until now you don't consider yourself to be an Otaku right ?
But you haven't been traumatized at all. (i.e. by reading somme YAOI)

But I can make a mistake.

So the "なわけ" suffix (is it ?) mean "like, be, be part of, etc.." of the previous word

actually now that I know a little bit more of the story, I can fix the translation

Well for the most part wouldn't you STILL consider yourself to be an Otaku?
So it's not like it's traumatizing, ya know?

In other words, the black haired girl thinks that the person IS and has always been(from the first time she sawe it) an Otaku.

Okayyyy that you think "オタクなわけ" and "じゃない" are not connected. So it means that Oono (long black haired one) is not talking to Saki (qhite haired one) as I thinked but still speaking about Ogiue (spiked short black haired one). Now I understand. At last we (errr you) did it. Thanks a lot again :)
