Great job bringing the victory home @Lady pompom , Best mafia!! \:lambirb/

For real tho, congrats Town for the win. It was an extremely draining but fun ride till the end. My team was cool and we made very interesting nights, with its good and bad decisions, but were all made together as comrades. Props to Shad for being an excellent newbie mafo and DD/Sakura for enduring the last phases like champs. :gent

Finally thanks to @Gajeel and @SonOfDaws for hosting such a massive game, now get a well deserved rest guys! :XD

See ya all next time!
I tried to keep the fort taichou T.T but I was too weak TAY

Post-Game Review

Summary

This was an extremely odd game to watch unfold. There were couple moments throughout when Gajeel, Hardy, or myself thought that the game was going to swing heavily in one direction or another and, at the same time, players on all sides seemed to think that they were on the losing side. By mid-game, these thoughts of players seemed to only increase in frequency, but I started to realize the direction the game was going and I'd say the numbers by the end speak for themselves.

For the majority of the time each team was in the game, no team saw it that way for long, but they were just a couple good plays and determined pushes away from dominating the game.

Game Mechanics
Before talking about the specific happenings with each team and player though, I think it's important to go over the special mechanics of the game that make it different as a Mafia Game.

In general, these abilities were supposed to enable a very limited number of high-impact plays in the same vein as role abilities that were already present in the normal role list:
  • Armored Titan: A one night Bulletproof Townie ability that always the user to play more offensively and even as bait while keeping some BP protection in their back pocket as protection and a mind game tool.
  • Female Titan: This ability effectively makes an ability strongman-like in terms of their power and can used in many of the same situations as strongmen, but it can also be used by the Time and Kamikaze bombs, to bypass a blocker role, for the mason recruiter to try for a near death recruitment or as a block-recruitment of a bad townie play, and enables the Pirate to do a block-steal of a bad townie play, and essentially allows any player to take any coin toss win.
  • Jaw Titan: Grants a Hider ability for two nights while allowing for an active role to still use their ability and, as a result, can be used a very similar manner to the Armored Titan.
  • Colossal Titan: Super PGO. Essentially, if you took a PGO and give them the skill and disciple of a Navy Seal, that's what this ability is. Essentially, any friendly player that targets the user doesn't die, but anyone that tries to kill the user dies. This granted players the ability to mind game hard at the cost of their active role, if any, but enables them to kill or cripple players in a number that's only limited by the number of active role players they can bait in. This was by far the most dangerous ability in the game.
  • Cart Titan: Two use titan Doctor. Pretty self-explanatory.
  • Beast Titan: Titan Cowboy. Another pretty self-explanatory one. This one wasn't added to really boost either side's chances, but it was put in to add some spice to the game... and boy did it.
  • War-Hammer Titan: This titan ability was essentially like a buffed Mafia Boss ability
  • Attack Titan: This was essentially a strongman-like ability like ability able to do everything Female Titan can do, disregard hider abilities, disregard protection abilities, and ensure the occurs even after they die, but at the cost of the ability occurring the following night. So, a buffed Strongman-Poisoner
  • Founding Titan: The Escort/Prostitute Titan. This is the anti-titan titan that can be used to good effect by any player, but its true value is seen when the player can coordinate with other players on their team and all three teams had night pads to potentially discuss and, if the team has it, plan its usage.
As you may have noticed, some titans are distinctly more beneficial to certain allegiances over others; Armored, Jaw, Colossal, and Cart favor townies and Female, War-Hammer, and Attack favor guilty parties.

However, the majority of purchases of titans were purely defensive counter plays, purchases made to prevent opposing teams from making the purchases. In the end, the only players that made purchases that had a notable level of synergy in terms of role or playstyle were Demonspeed, Vandred, Brandish, Lawl, and Panda. However, despite the misplays with the ability, the person that made the best purchase was without a doubt Panda, but more on that later. Demonspeed almost crippled Shad, the mafia det, but Demon also attracted the attention of the townie founding titan. All in all, the Titan powers didn't actually play a huge role in the events of the game, but the primary reason for that is that people saw that the titan powers could despite the likelihood proving to be relatively low.

As for the Merit Point System, I'm conflicted on it. The players that made regular, meaningful contributions got rewarded for it, afkers AFKed and got rewarded accordingly, and the spammers got "rewarded" accordingly as well. Players that paid attention to the opening post and got rewarded, and most players went encouraged to votelock in a more timely manner as opposed to the ugly late-game snipe attempts we got a rash of in some of the recent previous games. Not only that, but the number of posts was record-breaking and the vast majority of those posts were posts that were legitimately about the game. So, while every part of it ended up functioning as it should, players at the beginning of the game generally weren't super happy with the system and, like the Hydra system, took some adjusting to. I want to bring back the system in some form, but it could use some refining. May take some cues from the Overwatch game, but we'll see.

Players

Townies
@Brandish μ as Eren (Bodyguard) (Super Mason): Given your playstyle and your role, your pick of Colossal was a great one, but the number of noncontributing posts made the game harder for fellow players to read through, didn't earn MP the vast majority of the time (only the first non-spam posts did), netted penalties, and made you an easy lynch.

@Seraph as Mikasa (Freeman): You played with a negative townie role and avoided a town lynch, so that's good. The issue was that the reveal of your Freeman role invited a mafia kill. That wouldn't have been a bad move if you were able to get your hands on a titan like Colossal, Jaw, or Armored though. So, all-in-all, I'd like to see more of what you have as a player, particularly what you come up with when another bad situation arises and is met with a tempered Seraph.

@scav as Connie (Noble) (Super Mason): A solid game. There were some questionable reads here and there and hasty votes, but you were playing deently throughout the game.

@GrySun as Sasha (Bomb Defuser): Well done. For some reason, your first couple of days in this game and some previous games are surprisingly bad when it comes to picking suspects, however, you sharpened up after the first couple of days. Greatly so. In fact, despite what a good portion of deadpad believed for most of the game, you ended up being one of the deductively strongest players in game. That said, as you may have noticed from previous games, this can prove to be a double-edged sword: A player that's frequently on the attack/hunt, is ever-present, and is doing bad or only ok with player focuses is suspect, but a player that's frequently on the attack/hunt, is ever-present, and is doing good with player focuses becomes a bullet magnet. Still, you survived a long time this game, so perhaps you're already adjusting as you should be. Either way, I thought this was worth noting. Good game

@Asako as Floch (Kamikaze Bomb) (Explode Night 4): The bloodthirsty bomb-chan. Your theory on who was guilty was.. unique. While you were begrudgingly alive, you were right more than you were wrong though. So, wish you were posting more, but you do you :lmao .

@James Rye as Levy (Sane Spy): I wish you had lived longer in the game and got to see it become more stable, but I wasn't ignoring what you were criticizing about the system. If you want, I'd happy to hear any ideas you have for how to improve it for next time, just shoot me a PM. :verily

@Holt as Hange (Time Bomb) (Explode Night 4): The usual lurky Holt-style worked to good effect here again. A lot of your early to mid-game votes were off, but based what I remember you saying mid game about spam, I suspect that was in part because of the number of the posts made it hard to keep up and, as I said earlier in the posts, that's one of the reasons I want to refine this system more. Either way, decent play.

@Belserion as Annie (Pirate): Didn't last long, but you had one of the best plays of the game with that doc steal may have wanted to lie low for longer, but the person you confirmed, BlackTiger, ended up living to the end and played a big role in winning too. So, well played, Bel.

@Vandred as Pieck (Naive Detective) (Super Mason): I would have likely to see you become more active and defend your, but your lynch was one of the more.. questionable... So, I can't blame you too much. As a townie though, I think you're in a similar situation as Gry: When you're around and alive to make them, your deductions tend to be among the stronger ones. The issue is that people know that and hence you become a top pick for mafia kills and lynches. Differing from Gry in posting volume and player focus, I think some more ambiguity between your townie and mafia playstyles could be key to a consistently long lifespan.

@Takuan as Porco (Sane Detective): A tragic case. You scored a Mafia on your first go so that's a big one, but drew too much attention with the Likes. It's possible that it was a one-time, tragic occurrence, however, something to be mindful of regardless.

@Demonspeed as Zeke (Death Miller): All around a pretty decent game. You didn't have any super big pivotal plays due to the role you had, but you kept it on the down low and effectively danced between possible sleeper and plain townie. Really, that was the main reason you died when you did.

@MarmaladeSky as Udo (Insane Spy): Low participation and missed big portions of the game, but when you were around, you were contributing.

@Copy Panda as Falco (Jesus): I liked where your head was at the majority of the game and your titan pick was solid, however, the sudden cowboy shot change from Farf to James was very meme-able. A sudden shots and snipes that work out are hype and AFKing is a typical mafia strat, but vetting targets out when possible is generally the best way to go. The target aside, your play made got you to the end of the game and helped secure that townie win.

@desin24 as Colt (Sane Detective): Another one of the better posting players this game. Your detective picks weren't always the best, but you got your job done in the end with the Farfalla kill.

@gnut as Willy (Mason Recruiter): One of the great tragedies this game. You're typically a solid, reliable player no matter the side you're, but in the 35 or so posts you were able to post here in this game, you gained a massive amount of trust in the town, a commodity in MGs but one without drawbacks: Bullet magnetism. I heard you talking about improving your picks which is important, but the early appearance as townie was what made you an appealing mafia target. Chances of a situation exactly like this happening again are slim, but still worth saying.

@BlackTiger as Yelena (Sane Doctor): You're certainly another strong player when it comes to deductions, but as mentioned before, not knowing all the basic rules and some of your rough interactions with players holds you back tremendously. With an improved level of interpersonal skills and grasp of the rules, you could easily become one of the strongest townie players around right now.

@Lady pompom as Onyankopon (Spirit Medium): Though your role didn't allow for many big plays per say, you were pretty consistent through out: People had mixed feelings about your innocence, but all the while you honed in on your targets, convinced town in the end, and helped get the win. Well played.

Third Party
@Evil3ye as Gabi (Serial Killer) (Lover): You put up an admirable defense for Raven. There wasn't a whole lot that could have been done when put in that position, but maybe could have tried harder for the Lawl lynch. You were already making big pushes for him, so it would be more of a matter of going all in on it. Still, all things considered, what you were doing already in terms of throwing shade was good.

@Raven as Jean (Mafia Robber) (Lover): All things considered (discussion thread talk and.. choice words about the system aside), I'm actually pretty happy with you this game. I would have liked to have seen a stronger defense and seen you more in the game general, but despite the terrible situation, I think you handled it were some grace and I like that a lot more. Eventually, I'd like to see a Raven that's able to weave between a more of that grace and a more respectful but calculated version of that heat that I know you can bring to games. I'm not expecting any magical changes or complete lack of mess ups, but still, that's what I hope to see from ya.
That aside, I did see the input you had about the system and I'm thinking on stuff like adjusting the posts-to-point numbers. Hopefully, the next iteration is one that runs smoother and that everyone's more satisfied with.

Mafia
As a bit of a preface for some members of the mafia team, you're all capable players, proved to make some consistently solid plans in the night phases, and, funnily enough given the sentiment being shared by townies, had a persistent feeling of being on the brink of losing despite doing pretty well, but the most tragic thing about the game was that, despite you guys generally doing good in your planning and picking win-win situations, it seemed like every day since mid-game started some members of the team were throwing others under the bus early in hopes of saving themselves. Now, it's one thing to voice suspicion of teammates and, in fact, I think you should, but earlier votelocking or making definite statements of guilt on a team member that just started getting pressured is another. Obviously, this doesn't apply to all the mafia this game, but betrayal and giving up was an issue I saw happening multiple times with multiple members in the mafia this game. To be fair, this was a particularly long game, but it was also one that one guys could have won and won much earlier if you had more faith in the flawed but growing abilities of yourselves and your team.
Together.

@Lambu as Zofia (Mafia Politician): That was some cheeky Maf Politician play. :lmao Overall, I think up until the day you were lynched you were very consistently "Lambu". The ambiguity worked nicely in your favor this game and does in general and the more even-keeled voice in the mafia pad served the team well.

@digitaldude as Magath (Mafia Bomb Defuser): When it came to developing plans, I think yours stuck out the most often as fairly solid. However, even the best of efforts can be thwarted if the plans are made for the team and not with them.

@Farfalla as Armin (Mafia Mason): In general, I think you were another one of the more consistent of the players this game. I think you could have turned things around at a couple points in the game like on the day you were lynched, but still, in general, I think you were a good senpai.

@goodboy_lawlett as Ms. Tybur (Mafia Bomb): Definitely were coming up with some spicy plays this game and you definitely seem to have good instincts. However... considering on day 1 how little there was to go off of, how many other options there were, and main reasoning given for the option selected was that they were nicer to you, your credibility as a teammate is a bit hurt after this game. Still, I like your spicy bomb plays, what I suspect day 1 was in part, and you've proven on numerous occasions to have have good instincts. There were a couple times when I noticed you unknowingly ran a good cover teammates too. It is entirely possible that day 1 was one of those instances of good instincts. You know your true intentions better than I, but those are my thoughts.

@Shad as Shadis (Mafia Detective): I'm glad you joined up. You weren't leading lynches or plans in the night phases, but had some keen observation and nice ambiguous playstyle. Didn't win this one, but this was a good first game. :verily

@sakura-aneki as Reiner (Prostitute) (Traitor): Sakura you were certainly an odd one this game. No one even suspected you much until far and late into the game. I'm not sure about those blocks on Farf and info wasn't always kept straight, but you were the dark horse of the mafia team and, in spite of the questionable blocks, were one of the most careful about temmates. I suppose that's a big part of the role, but still, you stood out in that regard and almost won it for the team. Good game.

All that being said, I'm not omniscient, so take this all with a grain of salt and feel free to disagree.

And with that

I bid this game goodbye. Certainly a fun and exciting ride and I hope I see all of ya back! Maybe the theme will be again in another form... Who knows.

Now, given that the other game has already started and I don't want to draw players away from it, I think I'm going to lock down this thread. Still, if there's any thoughts on the review, PM box is open and I'm happy to talk.

Time to start the next game!

Best regards,
- Son of Daws.
