The media said tesla would fail and eventually go bankrupt. They recommended investors short the stock to profit from its fall.

Elon Musk countered by seeking other avenues of funding and ways to generate revenue to keep his company afloat. That's the origins story of those tweets.

In the end, everyone who shorted tesla lost billions of dollars when the stock price increased after the unveiling of the cybertruck. Instead of declining as the media had predicted it would.

Elon Musk and tesla were victorious despite attempts to the contrary by the SEC, NASA the media and whoever else.

Although you can still see thousands upon thousands of attack pieces published on Musk/SpaceX/Tesla every year. Which just go to show how political and agenda based a high proportion of the articles and news stories published today are.
