So, I was thinking it might be a good idea-- since we seem to have an election coming up in a few months (October) and all-- to have a thread here about it.

Speaking for myself, there are two parties whose candidates I'd consider voting for at this point, personally. My current MP is not from one of those parties.

Any thoughts you have about the election in general or your own feelings about it are welcome, fellow Canadians.

I'm not a huge fan of Global, but here's a handy (and quick) video they did on how election rules and ridings have changed (for those who voted last time):

Info about voter IDs from the source:

In case you missed it, or in case you'd like to watch again, here's a link to the Maclean's National Leaders' Debate:

...And I'm back to continue my conversation with myself about the Canadian election. Apparently it's been out for a while, but this campaign ad just got on my radar now:

Most _____ political campaign ad ever. (*not sure what to fill that blank in with yet.)

I voted in the advanced polls yesterday, woo. There are still advanced polls today and tomorrow-- yup, Thanksgiving!-- for anyone interested (same as on the 19th, bring two pieces of ID with your address and at least one photo ID due to the "Fair Elections Act").

Still a good week till the main voting day and all results come in. Thanks to the parliamentary system, there are a number of outcomes that can result. If anyone is reading this, I'd be interested in your top 3 or more possibilities (which party-- or coalition of parties-- form gov't, majority or minority, which parties working with which, etc.) :)
