Someone told me about that, I'll give it a try and see how it goes. If anything happens to my PC you are to blame :p

Haha don't worry. Its quite safe and easy on system resources. We had Symantec in our office. But too many viruses were still able to effect the PCs and mostly our ERP. I advised them to shift to Kaspersky, which they did. Almost a year and everything is running smooth. They are really happy. I like to add one more thing, Kaspersky rarely gives false detections.

@Truefan21: BitDefender is really heavy.

Tried so many Antivirus programs (Avast, Antivir, BitDefender, etc) but nothing is better than Kaspersky Internet Security for me. Doesn't slow down my PC and the protection is just awesome. I have its 2010 version but 2011 is already out and I heard its even better.
Agree with that and I'm using Kis 2011 now :)
It sure is better: scans a lot faster and more beautiful than 2010 :amuse, CPU resource when running:
but still a little heavy when update :(
There is also Kaspersky PURE; this one scan better than Kis2011. It has many more features so heavier when running and more expensive :p It might be suite for company than personal use.

I am using Quick Heal Anti-Virus 2010. It contains many nice features and functionalities. It cans and cleans both incoming and outgoing email messages, scans compressed files and compressed executables files and smart memory scanner traces and displays the infecting application name in the event of infection.

Well, I would say that you can use Avira AntiVir, but not alone. Actually I use a sort of combo.
Avira + ZoneAlarm + Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, wich turns out to be really good..

I use Avast Home Edition. The new version was published on their website. Its freeware. You can register on the site receive avast registration key. They provide timely updates. It n s fully legal, it generates a database virus avast recovery report on the new virus.

I was using AVG until recently, but I found out it makes my computer veeeeeeeeery slow, and when I deleted it, it started working better. I still haven't found a new program though.

Yeah I'm currently using AVG on my laptop right now too. Damn I miss avast! :crying
But I dunno if AVG is the reason my laptop is slow but may have to look at it as potential reason.

You should look up the memory tab in task manager to see if that's true...but IIRC avg is indeed slow...I prefer to use Nod32...sometimes I have license, sometimes I don't...so I use the trial version...and I prefer the trial version over the other stuff on the net...very good anti-<insert baddies> system, and low memory consumption...the lowest I encountered so far

The last I heard, Avast! Free Home Edition and Avira Antivir are the best free antivirus programs and I use one of them. With spyware its more complicated because even without considering more specialist programs, the best free ones have different strengths and weaknesses. The best combination for scans on demand would be a combination of Emsisoft Anti-Malware, and Malwaebytes Anti-Malware and SuperAntiSpyware. (My information comes from Techsupportalert.)

I was suing Kaspersky before I switched to Avira. I didn't remember why I changed the antivirus, but I thought it was because I couldn't update my Kaspersky then my computer was attacked. Do you use the free or paid one of Kaspersky, Zelx?

Anyone use Norton here? It's mostly come with new laptops when you buy them, but I would always take it off. XD

For a moment there I thought you had sue kaspersky :XD
anyway, I'm using the paid one, the free version is only the trial I think.
And yeah, I hate norton. Tried it once, deleted it and never looked back :p

I like AVG. Be careful though that you don't run two at the same time. Having more than one could cause holes in your security.

i m using avira antivirus, its interface is quite user firendly, i used avast b4 this fun i find avira to be less of a durden on the PC than avast.
imo(given that both are free ware) avast is slightly better .
any way if you are regular in update and your protection is on then i dun think the regular virus will attack. if its super nefarious then thats another thing entirely
